Broad Marsh car park

Great progress made on NCP car park demolition

One of Nottingham’s most recognisable eyesores has disappeared from the skyline.

Demolition of the former NCP car park, in Maid Marian Way, has been completed and now a period of site clearance will start, after which attention will turn to the former Nottingham College buildings.

Removing the car park opens up views across the city that have been blocked for decades. It also frees up land for the new homes, streets and public spaces that will form the next stage of Broad Marsh.

Restrictions already in place include:

  • Lane closures at the Castle Gate junction (lane two northbound and lane three southbound)
  • Temporary four-way signals at the southern junction with Canal Street, Wilford Street and Castle Boulevard. Some pavements will be temporarily unavailable, but pedestrians will still be able to navigate the area. Cycle lanes will remain open, although cyclists are asked to dismount for a short distance through the works

A contraflow system remains in place which sees traffic diverted from one side of Maid Marian Way to the other. Bus stops in the immediate vicinity may be subject to temporary suspensions during the works, so customers are advised to check with their transport provider.

Bull Close Road

Improvements to Bull Close Road

The final phase of improvement works on Bull Close Road started on 19 October, with resurfacing works taking place between the junctions of Redfield Road and Thane Road.

The works are expected to take around three weeks to complete. To minimise disruption, the team will work overnight between 7pm and 6am under temporary road closures. Access to properties will be maintained throughout the works via signed diversion routes as work moves along the road.
