Following the diesel spillage on Nuthall Road inbound from the Tesco Garage to Llanberis Grove, the road remains closed inbound from Cinderhill Island to Bar Lane.
This type of damage results in unacceptably low skid resistance and can have both immediate and long-term impacts on the structural integrity of the road.
After assessing the damage, the council has no option but to resurface this stretch of road.
Resurfacing began this morning (Friday 3) and will continue into next week. It will remain closed and a further update will be provided early next week.

Trentbarton is making changes to some of its bus services next month following a review of customer use and punctuality.
From Sunday 26 July, the Cotgrave and Skylink express services will no longer serve the Broad Marsh bus station.
The operator said extensive surveying found that 90 per cent of customers leaving Nottingham use stops on Friar Lane, Beastmarket Hill or Nottingham train station, rather than the bus station.
Trentbarton said removing the bus station from these routes would also help improve punctuality by around three to five minutes.
From the same date, the Cotgrave service will run directly from Beastmarket Hill to Nottingham train station, while Skylink express will run directly from Friar Lane to the station.
There will also be minor changes throughout both timetables.

NET trams have reminded passengers that the Station Street lift is being replaced over the coming weeks and is now temporarily out of use.
The works will run until Friday 14 August and will see a new lift installed to take people between street level and the tram bridge above.
Alternative lifts are available inside the train station and at the car park next door - both serve the tram platform. Access via the stairs at Station Street will remain during the work.
