As this term comes to a close, we want to thank you for everything you’ve done to support the health and wellbeing of children and young people. Your hard work and care make a real difference every day.
Wishing you a peaceful, restful, and joyful festive break. We look forward to working with you in the new year.
We are proud to share the achievements of our newly trained PSHE Ambassador Team from Bulwell Academy and Ellis Guilford School, who have been working hard to champion high-quality Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education across Nottingham schools. Over recent months, the young people have completed a training programme designed to equip them with the knowledge, confidence, and leadership skills to advocate for PSHE. As a result, they have created a PSHE Charter for Nottingham schools.
The charter sets out clear principles for what good PSHE should look like, ensuring that every child and young person receives education that supports their health, wellbeing, and future success. It reflects the voices of young people and their commitment to making PSHE relevant, inclusive, and empowering.
Our ambassadors didn’t stop there, some of them took centre stage at the Nottingham Healthy Child Conference, presenting their charter to an audience of educators, and professionals. Their presentation was met with enthusiasm and praise, highlighting the importance of youth-led initiatives in shaping education policy and practice.
The PSHE Ambassador Team will continue to work within their own schools to improve practice. We are excited to see the results of their work. The group also gave feedback on PSHE resources which we are currently reviewing and will share in the Spring Term.
Thank you to our ambassadors for their energy, insight, and commitment to making a difference! The Achieve Well Team are working on a PSHE Ambassador programme to share with schools in the city. Watch this space!

1decision have shared their free December PSHE assembly, available to all schools with no sign-up required. This assembly reminds children of the importance of supporting those around them and follows the story of a family giving back to a food bank, a food bank they once relied on during difficult times. Equation are in the early stages of developing Project Horizon - a new intervention intended to support children, young people and their caregivers who are affected by Child to Parent Abuse (CPA) in Nottingham City.
To ensure this programme is designed in a way that genuinely meets the needs of families and the professionals who work alongside them, they are gathering insight from key partners across the sector. This consultation will directly shape the structure of the programme, including the design of the sessions, resources and wider project delivery. It will also help Equation to understand what professionals training would be most valuable to support multi-agency responses to CPA.
They would be extremely grateful if you could take a few minutes to complete the consultation survey:
If you want any further information regarding this please do reach out to either, (Vanessa Dixon, Head of Service) vanessa@equation.org.uk or El Aspinall (Child to Parent Abuse Co-ordinator) el@equation.org.uk
As temperatures drop, it’s vital to protect yourself and others from the health risks of cold weather. The Cold-Health Alerting System provides early warnings to help communities respond effectively. Vulnerable groups, including older adults, young children, and those with long-term health conditions, are especially at risk.
Simple steps like heating your home to at least 18°C, wearing layers, and checking on neighbours can make a big difference. If eligible, get vaccinated against flu and COVID-19.
Check out the information and resources on the health protection hub page:
