RSE Day Theme Announced

RSE Day logo

The theme for this year’s RSE Day is Communicate!’.  We are busy creating resources that will be available after the Easter holidays on the website www.rseday.comAs in previous years we are collaborating with Challenge Nottingham to host an RSE day art workshop for Nottingham schools.

This year we are working with artist, Millie Yarwood, who will share the skills of mural creation with colleagues at our event on 29th April from 2pm to 4pm.  You can book a place on the workshop here.  Millie will also be creating a mural in the arboretum featuring children’s views on communication in healthy relationshipsWe want to hear the views of your children, click here to get involved.

Healthy Child Pupil lead Poster Campaign

healthy child posters

Nottingham’s schoolchildren are leading the Healthy Child Poster Campaign, inspiring their peers with messages on well-being, diversity, and physical activity. The next step in the campaign will see their ideas transformed into drafts by a designer, which pupils will then refine before the final versions are sent to all schools. This initiative has empowered children to shape health education in a creative and meaningful way. One participant said, "I think it's really brilliant because we get to share our ideas...it's nice because it is about kids, an adult might not know what the current situation with kids is."

A big thank you to the following schools for their support, time, and participation: Claremont Primary & Nursery, Crabtree Farm Primary and Nursery, Middleton Primary & Nursery, South Wilford Endowed CE Primary, Stanstead Flying High Academy, Whitemoor Academy, Nottingham Academy - Primary & Secondary, and The Fernwood School.

Celebrating Women’s History Month: Inspiring Role Models in Health

Emily Campbell

March is Women’s History Month, and we encourage you to celebrate women who promote healthy eating, fitness and positive body image. Explore role models like Kelly Holmes (active lifestyles), Emily Campbell, and Dame Kelly Holmes (mental and physical well-being) through assemblies, activities, and discussions to inspire students and discuss wider concepts as body image and overcoming social pressures.

Encourage families to start their day with a nutritious and budget-friendly breakfast by trying this easy banana pancake recipe! Made with just ripe bananas and eggs, these naturally sweet pancakes are quick to prepare and perfect for involving children in the kitchen. A large banana and two eggs costs around 70p and makes around 10 small pancakes (10cm wide approx). Schools can share this recipe with parents to promote healthy eating habits at home. Top the pancakes with fresh or frozen fruit for added vitamins and fibre. Click here to find out more Two-Ingredient Banana Pancakes

Smoke-free posters feature on Light Night

One of our smoke-free spaces winners, Isabelle-Melanie, was thrilled to see her poster on display at Light Night at the weekend.  Isabelle-Melanie was one of two winners of the competition which was held in October last year.  The winning designs, which feature signposting to the stop smoking service provided by Thriving Nottingham, are being made into A3 and A4 posters for schools to display around their grounds.  Thank you to all the children and schools who took part in the competition, it was great to see the quality of art-work created.

Gut Health & Brain Power: The Perfect Pair

brain health

A healthy gut isn’t just great for digestion it also plays a key role in brain function, mood, and concentration. Schools can encourage families to choose gut-friendly foods that support energy levels, focus, and overall well-being. When the gut is balanced, students can better absorb nutrients that fuel learning and wellbeing.

Achieve Well Team Impact Survey

impact survey

As a Team we are keen to ensure we are meeting the needs of schools and making an impact.  With this in mind, we are asking school colleagues who have used our services to complete a short survey. The survey should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete and will be hugely beneficial in planning our services for next year.  We appreciate your help with this.
