Smoke-free spaces competition winners

Holly

In October, the Achieve Well Team launched an exciting competition, inviting children to design a ‘Smoke-Free Spaces’ poster to be showcased at City Council events. We received some brilliant entries, with the winning designs selected by delegates at the Nottingham Healthy Child Conference.

This week, Catherine has been visiting schools to present the two winners with their certificates and prizes. Huge congratulations to Holly from Snapewood Primary and Isabelle-Melanie from Old Basford Primary for their outstanding designs!

Their posters will be proudly displayed at Nottingham Light Night, and digital versions will be shared with schools across the city, allowing them to be featured in and around school sites.

Choices and Consequences is an award-winning anti-knife crime workshop delivered in partnership with The Ben Kinsella Trust at the National Justice Museum. The workshop is aimed at Year 5 upwards, specifically at young people who are unlikely to have considered carrying a knife. It tells the story of Ben Kinsella, who was tragically killed in 2008 aged just 16, and is a vehicle to encourage young people to think about the consequences of carrying a knife and the choices they can make to avoid becoming impacted by violence.

As well as knife crime, Choices and Consequences also covers themes of personal safety, making positive choices to stay safe and making safe decisions when it comes to good friends which are all important life skills.

Currently the National Justice Museum are able to offer free funded places to all schools wanting to attend, for more information and to book please check our website.
