As part of the Priority Education Investment Area (PEIA) programme, Nottingham City Council are running a week of action to support schools with all things attendance in the week commencing 20 January. As part of this week, the Achieve Well Team have created attendance-focused assembly plans for both primary and secondary age children. You can download the assemblies here. Please adapt the assemblies to meet the needs of your children and school.
A fundamental part of the Achieve Well Team's work is to ensure staff are up to date with legislation, pedagogy and best practice around PSHE and a whole school approach to health and wellbeing. This not only supports staff with their own CPD, but also the achievement of our Health and Wellbeing Awards.
The Achieve Well Team have a range of training and networks on offer for the Spring and Summer terms. There is a broad variety of training, delivered either face to face (at Loxley House), virtual or pre-recorded for staff to access in their own time. To book training please click here. Here is an overview of the training taking place in Spring 1. All titles are hyperlinked and will take you straight to the booking page. Following the success of the Nottingham Healthy Child Conference, we’re inviting you to take part in an exciting new campaign to promote the Healthy Child Vision. Your students will have the opportunity to work together in small focus groups to create impactful slogans and choose poster formats that reflect what it means to live as a healthy, thriving child. Once completed, these posters will be showcased in schools and public health campaigns across Nottingham. We’ll deliver 30-minute workshops throughout February 2025 to guide your students through this creative process. These sessions are designed to inspire their creativity and encourage them to think about how they can embody and promote the Healthy Child Vision in their daily lives. If you’d like to get involved, please register by 31 January 2025 to secure your workshop. For more information or to participate, please click on this link https://forms.office.com/e/DrpkQPUxaM and fill in this form if you would like your school to take part. Let’s work together to bring this vision to life!

We all know that school experiences provide the foundations of good SMSC for all pupils. It’s important for our pupils to come to school not only for a formal education, but to be involved in activities that develop them as members of society. A great way for schools to encourage this is the active participation of pupils in campaigns and awareness days.
Involving pupils in these not only creates momentum for the campaign, increases knowledge around societal issues but greatly contributes to many aspects of SMSC for pupils. Pupils who have actively participated in campaigning develop leadership skills, including communication, organisation, teamwork, and decision-making. It also increases empathy, understanding, relationship building and contribution towards a fairer, more equitable society.
The Achieve Well Team have developed an Awareness Days Calendar for schools to access and see the variety of awareness days and campaigns they can get involved in. The calendar can be accessed via this link, and the calendar itself contains hyperlinks to all the main pages of the campaigns where staff can find relevant resources, information and ideas for pupils to get involved in.

Our services have changed. Since October 1st 2024, Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County have access to a new Sexual Health Service across the whole city and county geographical footprints. The service called Sexual Health Services Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, replaces five previously separate services.
The purpose of the new service intends to improve equity and deliver improved sexual health outcomes for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire residents. NUH is delivering the contract as the lead member of a consortium that includes Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust and Preventx. As Sexual Health Services operate under self-referral, residents are asked to access the service by:
-
Or walking in at any of the clinics
The service will operate 6 days per week with extended opening times and improve sexual health inequalities in target high-risk groups:
Walk in clinics for young people aged under 25 are held at Victoria Health Centre Monday to Thursday. This means they do not need to make an appointment.
A clinic for students studying at Bilborough sixth form college is held on Mondays and Fridays (10.00am – 1.00pm) and at Nottingham College on Tuesdays (10.00 – 1.00pm) for students studying across any of the College sites. These are term time only.
On Thursdays a clinic is held at Bulwell Riverside Youth and Play for young people aged under 19. Young people can walk in between 3.00pm and 7.00pm.
