National Highways is carrying out essential drainage improvements on the A52 between Bramcote Island and Bardills Roundabout, starting on Monday (18 November) for three weeks.
These will be overnight works between 8pm and 6am. For safety reasons, the A52 will be closed during those hours between the two junctions. During closures, a fully-signed diversion will be in place and access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout.
A diversion route map is here.
Closures can change at short notice. You can check the latest information on National Highways's daily closures page or find live travel information on Traffic England. Travel alerts give details of live incidents on the network.
It looks as though it's going to get much colder towards the middle of next week, so a reminder to keep your speed down and allow more time for your journey if possible.
During the colder nights, we recommend that drivers pay greater care and attention to driving in those conditions. Although snow is not expected at this stage, frost, ice and spray on the roads mean that in addition to poor visibility, stopping distances increase and drivers should be prepared for the unexpected.
We would ask drivers to:
-
Be informed: check traffic and weather updates
-
Be prepared: check your vehicle is ready for winter and always carry an emergency kit including warm and waterproof clothing
-
Be aware: in severe weather the council and Highways Agency winter teams need the time and space to do their job
-
Be wise: conditions may change, drive with care and full attention

Our Transforming Cities Fund project to add three safe crossings for cyclists and pedestrians to Queens Drive and Meadows Way moved into a new phase this week, with works starting in Queens Drive. This has seen one lane at a time suspended during off-peak (9.30am - 3.30pm) hours only.
From now until Friday 29 November, we are resurfacing Queens Drive between Crossgate Drive and past Tottle Road junction. Hours of work will be 8pm to 6am, Monday to Friday.
