Welcome to the third issue of our weekly summer attractions guide. We're halfway through now and we hope you've been finding inspiration for activities and days out. Today we're bringing you another hand-picked selection.

Whether you're looking for affordable family fun, relaxing weekend activities, or to try something completely new, we guarantee there'll be something for everyone!

National Ice Centre

Lace Market, NG1 1LA

The National Ice Centre has some exciting activities coming up this summer, whether you want to learn to skate or play, there is something for everyone! The next Summer Holiday Club is from Monday 14 - Friday 18 August for those aged 7-13, with days full of sporting activities and guided arts and crafts, all designed to enhance co-ordination and self-expression.

Take the tots for a special themed parent and tots skating session every Friday throughout August, with under the sea, space adventure and dinosaur themes.

There's also a three-day Ice Hockey Camp from Wednesday 16 - Friday 18 August, for those aged 5-17 to gain over two hours of ice time each day with hockey-themed activities.

Always wanted to learn how to ice skate? NIC offer two options, the traditional learn to skate pathway which takes place once a week (days vary depending on your level), or intensive skating lessons which fits the six-week skating course into just three days! The next courses are Tuesday 15 - Thursday 17 August and Tuesday 22 - Thursday 24 August.

Conkers

Conkers is the ultimate day out for the whole family! Immerse yourself in a world of exploration and discovery at the heart of the National Forest, where you'll find 120 acres of exciting play areas.

Discover the wonders of nature as you explore the play zones nestled among beautiful woodlands and gardens. Feel the earth beneath your feet on the Barefoot Walk, or challenge yourself with the thrilling Activity Trail that stretches across acres of land. Follow the enchanting Fairy Labyrinth and uncover the secrets of a magical tower.

Hop on board the Conkerchoo train ride, and then take to the skies as you conquer the Hi and Lo Ropes courses. Descend into The Warrens, a maze of underground tunnels spanning 70 meters beneath the surface.

Inside the Discovery Centre, you'll find interactive activities that bring the woodland to life, allowing you to chase butterflies and leaves no matter the weather. And get ready for a truly magical experience in the 4D Cinema. The outdoor splash park, Conkers Cove, is complete with play areas and bubbling jets!

Creswell Crags

Spend your summer holidays at Creswell Crags and discover all the amazing history and wildlife it has to offer.

Could you survive the Ice Age? Do you know what creatures live here, now and 50,000 years ago? Have you got the know-how to become an archaeologist?

Join the brilliant team for a different activity every week of the school summer holidays, so you can come back again and again!

GoApe

Go Ape Sherwood have re-launched their super Nets Adventure Summer Pass (NASP) offer, giving adventurers unlimited bouncing fun across the summer holidays until Sunday 10 September for just £40 (plus a free adult for children under 6).

Nets Adventure is the ultimate soft play experience. Reach for the sky on super-springy suspended nets 30 feet above the forest floor. Plus, there are inflatable balls to up the bounce factor even more and super slides to bring you back down to earth!

Naturescape

Langar, NG13 9HP

Naturescape has grown over the years to become the largest producer of British native wildflower seeds in the UK.

They have sold wildflowers in various forms for decades and have worked hard to maintain the quality of seeds, bulbs and plants that they produce and sell.

Come and visit the tearoom and café, and look around the wildflower fields. Naturescape is open 6 days a week, Tuesday to Saturday 9am-4pm and Sunday 10am-4pm with free entry.

National Holocaust Centre & Museum

Newark, NG22 0PA

The National Holocaust Centre and Museum is an inspirational and contemplative place. Set in the beautiful countryside of North Nottinghamshire, the amazing Smith family created a permanent memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. A space for us all to reflect on what it means for our communities today.

They are opening the doors for free on Friday 25 August, and welcome you to look around the museum, and meet the inspirational survivors and other local charities.

The Sunflower Experience & Maize Maze

Oxton, NG25 0RH

The Sunflower Experience is once again open this summer, and new for 2023, a Maize Maze!

With thousands of sunflowers and pick-your-own potatoes, gladioli and courgette, and a beautiful Wildflower Meadow, this is the perfect day out for all the family!

The Sunflower Experience and Maize Maze is open Wednesday to Sunday 10am-4pm. There is no need to book, and the entrance fee is a pre-payment for produce picked, including access to The Sunflower Experience and Maize Maze.

Zog Trail at Sherwood Pines

Mansfield, NG21 9JL

Join everyone’s favourite dragon Zog on his latest forest adventure at Sherwood Pines, with a family activity trail and free app!

Head to the forest, pick up your trail activity pack and don your orange wings as you join Zog on a forest adventure, where you will learn all about the nation’s forests, how we care for them and how they can care for you!

Collect golden stars, complete the fun activities, and enjoy a selfie with Zog once you complete the trail.
