A Decent Homes Standard for the private rented sector

In June this year, a new White Paper was published: 

A fairer private rented sector  It sets out the government’s commitment to introduce a legally binding Decent Homes Standard to the private rented sector for the first time. The Government are now seeking views from individuals and organisations on the introduction and enforcement of the Standard in England.

You can find out more and have your say until the 14 October.

Updated Carbon Monoxide Regulations – Are you ready?

The Government have updated the Carbon Monoxide Regulations for the private rented sector, which come into force on 1 October 2022. Landlords and tenants can find out what new requirements have been introduced and how it might affect you here.

Times are really difficult for everyone at the moment due to the cost of living crisis. If you’re thinking about serving notice on your tenant - call Nottingham Private Rented Assistance Scheme (NPRAS) before you take the next step. They can help you to look at ways of avoiding this costly and disruptive process. 

NPRAS help Landlords to avoid evicting families struggling to keep a roof over their heads. They achieve this by reaching out, negotiating with landlords and working with families to address their difficulties – whether that be setting up support, payment plans or arranging loans to clear rent arrears.

Selective Licensing update

Thank you to those who responded to the recent consultation for a new selective licensing scheme. The consultation is now closed and the Council is currently reviewing and considering the consultation responses which were received.
