Thank You Blessing The City Volunteers!

blessing the city

In early August Nottingham Green Guardians were joined by young volunteers from Vineyard Churches across the UK to volunteer at parks and open spaces across the city.

As part of their Dreaming the Impossible 2021 annual youth gathering more than 100 volunteers aged between 12 -18 years old gave up their time to litter pick, paint railings and bollards, remove or cover graffiti, mulch and weed around young trees and cut back paths and walkways to help create safe and clean spaces for the citizens of Nottingham to enjoy.

Conservation Volunteers Needed

The Green Guardian conservation volunteer days are now live!

If you are already registered then please remember book on to sessions via the volunteer portal (log in, then look under activities and then events) so we can make sure we have enough tools, PPE and biscuits for you!

Our first session is at Sellers Wood on 14th September followed by 23rd and 27th September at Whitemoor Nature Reserve.

If you are not registered but interested in habitat management and creating areas where wildlife can thrive then visit our website to sign up and secure your place.

Volunteer Event - Nottingham Green Festival

The Nottingham Green Festival is organised by grass roots community based volunteers, not-for-profit and with no statutory funding. The ethical standards and sustainability / environmental / human / animal rights ethos of the FREE one day event are long established, having evolved from the pre-history of Nottingham Peace Festival from which it grew.

We are putting a call out for volunteers to help on the day to make this years event a huge success!

Nottingham Green Festival will be held on 12th September between 12 - 6pm at The Arboretum but there is a range of volunteering opportunities that run from 8am-7pm on the day.

If you are interested then get in touch with them

Cycle September

love to ride

Cycle September is all about encouraging as many people as possible to get on a bike. The month-long competition is not all about who can ride the most miles, but about encouraging as many people as possible to join the competition and ride for health, happiness, and fun. Our website offers lots of support, guidance, and tips on cycling. This allows riders to think about their barriers and we give suggestions on how to overcome them.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Everyone can join in
  • Individuals only have to ride for ten minutes to go into the prize draws and help their organisation climb the leader board
  • You can ride anywhere any time
  • Earn points by riding and encouraging others
  • Share the love- encouragement is at the core of Cycle September
  • There are some amazing prizes to be won
  • Cycle September is based on a tried and tested model
