Mark Dunwell

“Networking is one of the oldest and most powerful ways for businesses to interact. It gives us the opportunity to form new business relationships, learn from each other and share ideas, all with the intention to grow our businesses. It’s good for business and cohesion of the community it serves.”

Nottingham business owner Mark Dunwell is also a member of the B-Global Strategic Planning Group.

I love the work I do; I work with all kind of businesses, from large SMEs to micro- businesses helping them solve problems and improving business performance.

Your typical SME business generally has more to deal with than they can handle so a bit of help and advice to move the business forward is often a lifesaver. With my background and career in operations there are not many problems I have not seen and know how to deal with.

I have helped over 70 start-up businesses in the last three years with business planning and sourcing funding. It’s an area I particularly get a buzz from; the enthusiasm and energy from people turning ideas into a business reality is infectious. It’s a privilege to now be part of the team developing the vision and structure for the future success of B-Global.

With over 20 years in operations and business management in companies around the east midlands, I have run multi-site operations in specialist pressure sensitive adhesive tapes, textile operations producing coated fabrics for healthcare and managed chemical plants.

I now run my own business www.xelerate.co.uk and as an accredited business adviser I work with growing and start-up businesses providing advice in strategy, business planning and funding.

B-Global team welcomes new intern

Lutfi Touazi

Lutfi Touazi is an enthusiastic and dedicated university undergraduate who is now playing an active role in the B-Global network.

I’m Lutfi, Business Partnership Officer Intern at Nottingham City Council, working directly with the B-Global team. I am currently studying Politics and International Relations at the University of Nottingham, hoping to graduate in summer of 2020.

After graduation, I hope to embark upon a career in management consultancy. This internship will hopefully help me experience what it is like to assist and support small businesses, specifically within the BAME community.

I also hope to gain as much as possible from this valuable experience by developing my skills in communication and management. I'm also looking forward to helping B-Global to expand further and increase their outreach within the East Midlands by providing new ideas and reaching out to new BME businesses, inviting them to be a part of this fantastic project.

I have previously worked for my university’s Islamic Society, facilitating education and charity events across the year.

Anthony Easy

"B-Global has given me a platform to inspire individuals so that they too can achieve, being supported by me and other members of the network to access knowledge."

Anthony Easy is Director of ICE ASBESTOS, Nottingham.

Anthony is a self-taught entrepreneur who left school with very few qualifications and first started in the asbestos removal business in 1982, stripping out substances from power stations.

I formed my first asbestos removal company in 2002 and through a lot of hard work and perseverance I became the first BME director of this type of business in the UK.

I have been fortunate to have been nominated and placed at the Nottingham BME business awards in 2006.  Being in the position I am, I felt it important to introduce the younger generation into asbestos removal which led me into taking on apprentices.

Many years later I still employ one of these apprentices while others moved on and are still in the trade.  I have also employed ex-offenders to give a pathway and opportunities into the workplace. Contact Anthony on LinkedIn.
