Safer Sleep for Babies

Nottingham City Safeguarding Children Board and Nottinghamshire Safeguarding Children Board have developed the Safer Sleeping Risk Assessment Tool to support practitioners to identify if parents or carers are putting a baby to sleep in an unsafe way.

A self-directed learning session has also been developed to help practitioners learn about:

  • what guidance to give carers to ensure they are putting babies to sleep safely
  • Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)
  • the risk factors for SIDS

Please click here to access the Risk Assessment Tool and learning session (please note that you will need to scroll to the bottom of the web page)

Working together

Escalation procedure

Effective partnership working relies on an open approach and honest relationships between agencies.

Sometimes disagreements occur between professionals about thresholds, roles and responsibilities, the need for action and communication.  It is important that professional disagreements are resolved quickly.

Where possible any disagreements should be resolved at practitioner level between organisations, but if this is not possible then the professionals involved should refer to the multi-agency procedure on escalation to achieve a resolution.
