Welcome to the latest news from Hoodwinked - the unique public art
sculpture trail coming to the streets of Nottingham this summer, in partnership
with Wild in Art. It starts on Saturday 7 July – less than two months away. Make sure
the date’s in your diary!

What is Hoodwinked?
Hoodwinked is the biggest event in Nottingham this
summer. It's a twist on the tale of Nottingham's iconic outlaw, Robin
Hood. The city centre sculpture trail transforms our merry man in green
into robins - all an identical shape but each decorated in a unique way by
artists. Each sculpture is sponsored by a business.
There will be a Hoodwinked app to download, guiding visitors round the trail and giving access to a range of special offers from sponsors.
The trail of
33 robins will be on the streets of Nottingham from 7 July to 30 September,
after which the sculptures will be auctioned to raise money for the
Hoodwinked charity partner, Nottinghamshire Hospice.
There will also be a complementary trail of BookBenches created by our local
schools.
Look out for free postcards
available from the Tourist Information Centre and other local outlets - and please help us spread the word! Maps will be available as the trail draws closer.

A sneak preview
The Hoodwinked artists are busy painting their unique
robin sculptures ready for the trail. Some of them are working in in intu Broadmarsh
over the next few weeks, so why not drop by for a sneak preview?
The painting space is a shop on the lower
mall next to Grape Tree and Made in Nottingham – spot the Hoodwinked branding.
Nottingham artist Lissie Hollis (pictured) was the first to work in the intu Broadmarsh space. More artists are there this week.

Cheers
for the Playhouse
Nottingham Playhouse is creating a unique sculpture for the Hoodwinked
trail – designed and painted by its own paintshop team.
In-house artists Claire
Thompson and Anna Roberts have created a stunning design to showcase the
internationally-renowned theatre, which sits just off Derby Road in the city
centre. Visitors following the Hoodwinked trail will discover the theatre’s
spacious modernist building fronted by Anish Kapoor’s Sky Mirror, one of the
city’s most popular landmarks.
Anna
and Claire are also painting three sculptures designed by competition winners –
for the Nottingham Post, Browne Jacobson and Nottingham Forest Football Club.

Schools trail on the way
Fifty four primary schools across the city are busy
designing and painting BookBenches, which will form a trail through the city’s
neighbourhoods. It’s part of the Hoodwinked arts and literacy education programme, Robin’s
Tales, which is sponsored by Boots.
The
BookBenches will be on display at community libraries and leisure centres
throughout the summer before being returned to their permanent homes back at
school.
