23 February saw Storysmash arrive
en masse and fill the Nottingham Conference Centre for its celebration
event.
Over 100 people had the opportunity to hone their writing and
creative skills with Masterclasses from the likes of outstanding writers; Jeff
Noon, Stuart Hill, Kim Slater, Tony White and Dean Wilkinson, as well as with
the powerful performance poet, Panya Banjoko. We were joined by the Lord Mayor
of Nottingham, Councillor Michael Edwards who had a brilliant time in the
highly entertaining masterclass led by Dean Wilkinson.
The packed audience were treated to a live
performance from the superb Altered Sky who had recently completed a tour of
Japan.
The event celebrated the achievements of the
young people who, over the last year, had attended the Storysmash workshops to
create their own digital game, by awarding them with certificates presented by
the authors Stuart Hill and Tony White. We also unveiled the Storysmash game
‘Horizon’, created by young people who worked as a group at Nottingham Central
Library. The audience had great fun taking part in playing the game.
Storysmash looks set to have more workshops
and ideas in the pipeline so keep up to date by following our Twitter account
and checking the website.
See the journey of Storysmash so far with our videos here and here.
