Nottingham City Council - proud to present great events

beat the streets

Beat The Streets

Beat The Streets is a one-day, multi-venue charity festival taking place on Sunday 28th January 2018.

Our aim is to raise vital funds to support homeless people in need.

Taking place in various venues around Nottingham city centre, Beat The Streets will play host to over 80 national and local acts with one ticket allowing access to all venues.

All proceeds raised from ticket sales, bar revenue and merch sales will be donated to Framework, a Nottinghamshire charity dedicated to bettering the lives of homeless people. Partnering with local promoters, venues and organisations, we want Beat The Streets to be a force for positive change, using music to bring together the people of Nottingham and beyond for a great cause.

Vikings

Vikings continue to camp at Nottingham Lakeside Arts

Don't miss the Viking invasion this winter with two unique exhibitions exploring Britain's Viking past. 'Viking: Rediscover the Legend' and 'Danelaw Saga: Bringing Vikings Back to the East Midlands' run until 4 March and are accompanied by talks and other events so you can delve deeper into the world of the Vikings.

Nationally and internationally significant Anglo-Saxon and Viking artefacts from the British Museum and Yorkshire Museum Trust, along with current research, are brought together in this exhibition to provide a new interpretation and a fresh perspective on how Vikings transformed and shaped every aspect of life in Britain.

The exhibition, programmed by the University of Nottingham Museum, includes the most well-known Viking hoards ever discovered in this country, including the Vale of York Viking Hoard, Cuerdale Hoard, Bedale Hoard and the recently discovered Watlington Hoard on loan from the Ashmolean Museum.
