In case you hadn't noticed, Goose Fair has now started and will continue until Sunday 8 October.
For five days in the first week of October, the Forest Recreation Ground becomes the place to enjoy over 500 attractions, the latest white knuckle experiences, family rides and classic
favourites, not forgetting the ever-famous mushy peas, candy floss and brandy snaps.
Entry, as always, is free and you can download discount vouchers for some of the attractions by inserting the number you require and following the instructions.

The bid team will be out and about across some of Nottingham's markets from Tuesday 10 to Saturday 14 October and want to meet you. Come down and tell us your favourite Nottingham cultural moments, sign up to support the bid and let us know what you would like to see in 2023.

Week from Monday 9 to Saturday 14 October is your chance to discover the amazing range of free things
you can do at your library.
We have a special week of
exciting events planned at Nottingham libraries, including a talk by celebrated Nottingham playwright Amanda Whittington, live
acoustic music from up-and-coming Nottinghamshire musicians, a health and well-being event, local history talks and craft activities. The full

Free, fun tennis activities are on offer to children aged three to ten at Nottingham Tennis Centre this weekend, and you don't have to worry about the weather as they're all indoors.
There's no need to book - you can just turn up at 10.30am on either Saturday 7 or Sunday 8 October or at 2pm on Saturday and have fun with fastest serve inflatables, accuracy inflatables, 'beat the coach' and more. All the equipment will be provided.
As part of Nottingham Tennis Centre’s continued and growing support for local children, there will be a fantastic opportunity on the day for anyone who wants to take up the sport afterwards.
Looking further afield, Oyster Band, Show of Hands, False Lights and artists from as far away as New Zealand will be performing at Derby Folk
Festival from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 October.

A nine-foot mechanical elephant, music,
dance, poetry and food will all feature in Nottingham City Council’s celebrations
for Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights, in the Old Market Square on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 October.
On Friday, the elephant will
parade around the Square, accompanied by dancers and musicians, and diya lamps
made as part of an Arts Council England-funded project will be floated on the
water feature. During the weekend, there
will be a large rangoli installation on display, rangoli workshops and readings
from some of Nottingham’s best poets. The
Diwali celebrations will take place from 6 to 8.30pm on Friday and 12 to 4pm on
Saturday.
In addition, there will be a
curry market, also in the Square, from 11.30am to
9pm on Friday and 11.30am to 5pm on Saturday, offering a variety of curries,
Indian sweets and kulfi ice creams.

Hockley Hustle fills the streets of Hockley with vibrant entertainment and food each year, while raising much-needed money for Nottinghamshire charities.
