Broadmarsh Car Park to be consigned to history

The days are numbered for a Nottingham eyesore which most local people will be pleased to see the back of and turned into a key part of the city centre’s transformation.

Councillors at the City Council’s Executive Board meeting earlier today gave the go-ahead for the Broadmarsh car park to be demolished to make way for a brand new replacement.

What are the plans for a better Broadmarsh?

From June 2017, Nottingham City Council is undertaking work to transform the southern entrance to the city centre. Intu Broadmarsh shopping centre, the Broadmarsh car park and the surrounding streets will be redeveloped.  This will be one of the most significant regeneration projects in the city in recent years.  Nottingham City Council has already invested in improving Nottingham station and pedestrianising Station Street.  The new improvements will reduce or remove traffic around the Broadmarsh area and this, along with a new car park, bus station and refurbished shopping centre, will create a much-improved, pedestrian-friendly entrance to the city centre from Nottingham Station.
