There are
five months before the events take place on the
scenic streets of Nottingham, so it’s time to lace up those trainers and start getting race ready
for your 2017 challenge. You still have time to join the
thousands of runners taking part on one of the most picturesque routes to run
this year, taking you past many of the beautiful and iconic landmarks our city
has to offer.
Moving into its 37th year, the event is predicted to welcome over 12,000
runners. The iconic half marathon and prestigious marathon courses are ideal
for seasoned athletes and beginners alike, while the 1.5-mile mini marathon provides the perfect option to run together with children and family.

 Do you or someone you know want to be involved in our exclusive Dinosaurs of China exhibition at Wollaton Hall from 1 July to 29 October?
By offering some of your spare time during the summer and attending our training day, you can take up a key volunteering role in this exciting exhibition. All you need to do is book your place by contacting the volunteer team on 0115 8762205 or emailing volunteer.programme@nottinghamcity.gov.uk.
The training day on Wednesday 31 May will involve learning more about the exhibition from Dr Adam Smith, Curator of the Hall, details on each volunteering role and training on what you'll be required to do.
This is the first and only time that the grand selection of 3D mounted skeletons, detailed replicas and original fossils will be seen outside of Asia. You can switch on to our local media partner Notts TV for all things dinosaur. Keep an eye out for announcements leading up to the exhibition. Notts TV is Nottinghamshire's local TV channel, available on Freeview 7, Virgin 159, Sky 117 and On Demand 24hrs a day, 7 days a week.

 BBC Radio Nottingham's Big Day Out on Sunday 30 April will offer free entry to many Nottinghamshire museums and heritage attractions, including Nottingham Castle, the Museum of Nottingham Life at Brewhouse Yard, Newstead Abbey, the National Justice Museum and the National Videogame Arcade (parking charges may apply). For some attractions, you will need to book in advance or download a voucher from the website.

Britain’s Got Talent’s Lucy Kay and The X Factor winner Joe McElderry will star in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Theatre Royal from Tuesday 25 to Saturday 29 April.
The popular Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice musical is a vibrant and exciting retelling of the biblical story
of Joseph, his eleven brothers and his coat of many colours, with a score that is crammed with hits including
Close Every Door and Any Dream Will Do.

 Phillip Schofield will host The Knights of Music at the Royal Concert Hall on Thursday 27 April.
The evening will celebrate the
legendary knights and dames of the entertainment industry who have transformed
the face of music, film and theatre, including Lord Andrew
Lloyd Webber, Sir Paul McCartney, Dame Shirley Bassey and Sir Elton John. A cast of West End performers will present hits including Rocket Man, Hey Jude and I Dreamed a Dream.

Ever since the 2013 home Ashes series, Evenings With Aggers have been delighting audiences all over the country. Now, broadcaster and former cricketer Jonathan Agnew has teamed up with his TMS colleague, Phil
Tufnell, for a no holds barred evening at the Royal Concert Hall that will entertain you whether you're a
cricket fan or not.

 David Mamet's award-winning 20th century masterpiece about four desperate Chicago real estate agents resorting to unethical and illegal acts to sell properties to unsuspecting buyers will be showing at The Lace Market Theatre from Monday 24 to Saturday 29 April.

The second Nottingham Poetry Festival continues until Sunday 30 April, with a range of events featuring the likes of Carol Ann Duffy, John Sampson, John Cooper Clarke and Henry Normal.
Many events are free, including Poetry Hours at Nottingham libraries with
local poet Henry Normal and his guests.
Henry is a TV producer, comedian and poet who has been involved in
television and film productions such as The Royle Family, Gavin and Stacey, Philomena and Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa.

 Nottingham Peacebuilders 2017 is an opportunity to create a shared celebration of everything we do to build a good world, with activities continuing across the city until Saturday 20 May.
The initiative is a response to the 'Gandhi, King, Ikeda (Peacebuilders)' exhibition at Nottingham Trent University from Tuesday 2 to Friday 5 May and at the Broadway Cinema's Gallery from Saturday 6 to Friday 12 May.
Peacebuilders activities include Michael Mears' one-man play about conscientious objectors, a peace procession, a peace party, meditation, dance, poetry and music. Find out more here.

A cast of 21 actors and musicians are performing hits including Tommy Can You Hear Me, I’m Free, See Me, Feel Me

Nottingham Tennis Centre's Summer Friday Family Smash Ups will return every month from April to August, with the first session taking place indoors and later ones outside as the weather improves.
They give families the chance to
play together, with loads of
sports to try, including uni-hockey, football, archery, table tennis, badminton, swingball, tennis and mini tennis.
The Friday Smash Ups will take place from 5 to 7pm on the last Friday of every month, from 28 April to 25 August. They're free for anyone enrolled on the centre's coaching programme or cost just £5 for the whole family for everyone else.
If you want to find out more about what goes on at Nottingham Tennis Centre, get along to the Active Communities Open Day on Tuesday 25 April from 10am until noon and have a go at tennis and table tennis for free.
