Today marks the start of Safer Sleep Week which runs from 13-19 March 2017. This is a national campaign to raise awareness about safe sleeping for babies.
The campaign is led by the Lullaby Trust and its aim is to make sure anyone looking after a young baby knows the importance of safer sleep and are aware of how to reduce the chance of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). To find out more about the campaign please click here.
In Nottinghamshire there are 6 deaths on average each year of babies (up to 15 months old) that are likely to be due to an unsafe sleep environment. These deaths are potentially preventable. This demonstrates the importance of getting the message about safe sleeping to people caring for babies.
The video has also been added to the new NCSCB Video Resources page of our website so you can find it there too. We are developing this page on the website, so please get in touch by emailing safeguarding.partnerships@nottinghamcity.gov.uk if there is anything you'd like to see on there.
