To work as part of a team to maintain, repair and construct roads and footways in Nottingham. The candidate should have 2 years of highway construction operational experience.

  
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience of working as a labourer on highway and civil engineering projects.
• A good knowledge of health and safety, in particular working safely on the highway.
• The ability to operate a range of small plant machinery.
• Experience of installing, maintaining and removing temporary traffic management.
• A flexible approach and willingness to working shifts, including early morning, evenings and weekends.

Nottingham City Council provide Residential care for children and young people from 11 to 18 years old and we have 12 homes including semi-independent units based across all areas of Nottingham. Our aim is to make our homes places where each child and young person is able to contribute to their environment and learn important life skills which will equip them for adult life.
 
As a Children's Residential Social Care Worker you will work as part of a team in a children's home or semi-independent unit with the support of a home manager. You will play a vital role in helping children in Nottingham to socialise, expres themselves, form relationships and live healthy and socially active lives.
 
You will work directly with children and their families both individually and in groups, with support, addressing parenting and social skills with the aim of enhancing the relationship with their children and with the aim of rehabilitation back to families/carers wherever possible. You will be one of the team who together make a positive difference to young lives.

 
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: 
Please ensure that when filling in your application form that you pay particular attention to the Person Specification and that you write about your knowledge, skills and experience in relation to the following:
  • Your awareness of the principles behind the Children's Act 1989 and 2000, Leaving Care Act and awareness of the Children's Homes Regulations including the quality standards April 2015.
  • An understanding of the Social, Cultural, Physical and emotional needs of children, especially those with challenging behaviour.
  • Awareness of safeguarding processes and relevant safety issues.
  • Ability to motivate individuals or groups of children through social and leisure activities, towards developing personal and social skills.
  • Ability to contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation and monitoring of individual care programmes for children in key-working or co-working capacity. This will include working with families where there is a plan for a young person to return home. It will also include planning for young people into independence.
  • Motivated to work with children who demonstrate challenging behaviour in a residential setting.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels over the phone, in writing and face to face.
  • Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team, to meet the needs of children on an individual or group basis.
  • Ability to identify own developmental needs in conjunction with supervisor/line manager.
  • Abilty to demonstrate good parenting and relationship building skills.
  • Willingness to work outside of "normal" office hours.
  • Willingness to work a rota system to include sleep-ins, weekends and bank holidays as required.
