Rethinking ‘Did Not Attend’
An animation to encourage practitioners to identify children as ‘was not brought’ as opposed to ‘did not attend’ when they are not presented at medical appointments, has been jointly commissioned by the Nottingham City Safeguarding Children Board (NCSCB), Nottingham City Council, and NHS Nottingham
City CCG.
The animation is a powerful reminder that
children do not take themselves to appointments, and for practitioners to reflect on the impact of missed
appointments on a child’s wellbeing.
Alison Michalska, Vice President of the Association of Directors of Children's Services (ADCS), and Corporate Director of Children and Adults in Nottingham City Council, has written a blog about the animation, which you can read here.

Children’s
Workforce Survey
Nottingham
City Council and the NCSCB are undertaking consultation via a short
survey. The survey seeks views about how support is provided to children
in our city. This includes what respondents think about the Family Support
Pathway, multi-agency working and the NCSCB.
We
would be grateful if you could both respond to the survey and pass it onto
colleagues for them to complete. Your views are really valued and will help to
improve the way we work with children and families.
The survey will only
take a few minutes to complete.

Bite-size Learning Sheets – please read and share
The
NCSCB has produced some learning sheets to share the learning from a recent
Serious Case Review. The aim of the learning sheets is to change practice
by providing an overview of the practice issues identified through the review
in a way that can be shared widely across the workforce to raise awareness and
inform better practice.
Each
learning sheet gives you a brief overview of a practice issue, how it can
manifest, different ways to approach the practice issue, some further reading
and a group activity to generate discussion in a group or team setting.
Our
collection of Bite-size Learning Sheets can be found here.
We
will continue to add more Bite-size Learning Sheets so please keep checking the
web page for updates.
