Reclaim the Pitch Celebration Night - 17 January

Calling all females! 

Join Nottingham City of Football on Tuesday 17 January for a fun night of female only football at The Forest Sports Zone from 6-8pm. 

Enter a tournament or round robin, or just turn up for our Footy Fit sessions or U'16's area for a kick around.  There are prizes to be won and a special guest appearance too!

Chinese New Year at Nottingham Lakeside Arts

Welcome the year of the Rooster

Saturday 28 & Sunday 29: Outdoor event at Highfields Park featuring digital projections and dragon dancing (there is no charge for this event, but booking is essential)

Chinese New Year Temple Fair
Saturday 21 January

11am - 4pm, Old Market Square

An opportunity to see and participate in activities which regularly feature as part of China's New Year celebrations. There will be arts and crafts including calligraphy, brush painting and paper cutting; storytelling, music and dance including the Chinese Dragon dance as well as performances by Nottingham Chinese School.

Come and swap your edible items at the Community Food Swap. The only rule is that is must be home made, home grown or foraged by yourself. The more stuff you bring, the more you will go home with!

British Synchronized Skating Championships

14 - 15 January at Motorpoint Arena

Synchronized Skating is the fastest growing figure skating discipline and involves teams of 12-16 skaters, skating in formation with speed and precision whilst performing intricate routines to music. 

Synchronized Skating is expected to become a Winter Olympic event in the future and is likely to be included in the Winter Olympics in China in 2022.

Last chance for Marguerite Humeau and Otobong Nkanga exhibitions at Nottingham Contemporary

Marguerite Humeau: installations taking you back to the origins of life, while also imagining a future without humans.

Otobong Nkanga: huge tapestries, performances, drawings and installations trace all kinds of different botanical and geological histories.

Both exhibitions close Sunday 15 January at Nottingham Contemporary.


House and Place History Workshop at Nottingham Central Library
Wednesday 18 Jan

Discover more about where your ancestors lived in this workshop. You'll use maps, census returns, electoral registers and photographs to build a picture of their lives.

RSPB Big Birdwatch at Highfields Park
Saturday 28 January from 1pm

Join in with the world's biggest bird survey, providing the RSPB with a vital picture of how birds in Nottingham are doing during winter. 

Come along for an hour, and help us by spotting how many birds you can see, and what kind. Meet at the boathouse. Booking helpful but not essential on 0115 8467777.

Dinosaurs of China - get tickets now!

Dinosaurs of China is a one-time only world exclusive exhibition of dinosaurs coming to Europe for the first time.

Wollaton Hall will host the main exhibition, with a complementary exhibition at Lakeside Arts, running from 1 July – 29 October.

Featuring fossils and specimens never before seen outside of Asia, Dinosaurs of China will bring to life the story of how dinosaurs evolved into the birds that live alongside us today.
