Christmas festivities at Woodthorpe this weekend

Christmas Family Fun Days - 10 & 11 December

This weekend get into the festive spirit at free family fun days at Nottingham City Council’s Nursery  - from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. 

There will be lots of stalls, live music, face painting, a treasure hunt in the Tropical House, visits to Santa (9am to 4pm Saturday and 11.30am to 2.30pm Sunday) and the opportunity to buy Christmas trees, plants and all the trimmings from the City Council’s Woodthorpe Park Plant Shop.

Animal magic in the Tropical House

You'll be able to meet a baby elephant, monkey, hippo and lioness who are settling into the Tropical House at Woodthorpe Park! 

The metal animals will take pride of place in a festive wonderland for the family fun weekend.  They were made in Nairobi from recycled metal including car doors, oil drums and bus parts. 

Plants grown in Nottingham

Buy local and support your local parks!  Woodthorpe Park Plant Shop has a great range of Cyclamen and Poinsettia grown at Nottingham City Council’s Nursery, right next door to the shop.

Cyclamen are ideal for indoor pots or as a bright welcome outside the front door. 

Poinsettia are a seasonal Christmas plant for indoors - ours are in a variety of colours including traditional red, fresh white and pink brushed Picasso. 

They need to be kept at a constant temperature of around 18 degrees C (55 degrees F) to keep them looking their best.

And when the festivities are over….Nottingham City Council is once again offering residents a free Christmas tree collection service.  Trees will be collected and recycled from Thursday 5 January until Friday 20 January 2017 ONLY.  This is a limited offer so please book early to avoid disappointment.  To book your collection please call 0115 915 2000.
