The result of the UK referendum in June 2016 has long term implications for EU funding programmes. However, until the UK has formally left the EU and it continues to pay into the EU budget, access to these programmes will continue.
Assurances set out by the Treasury include:
- all structural and investment fund (ESIF) projects signed before the Autumn Statement will be fully funded, even when these projects continue beyond the UK’s departure from the EU.
- the Treasury will also put in place arrangements for assessing whether to guarantee funding for specific ESIF projects that might be signed after the Autumn Statement, but while we remain a member of the EU. Further details will be provided ahead of the Autumn Statement (due on 23rd November).
- where UK organisations bid directly to the European Commission on a competitive basis for EU funding projects while we are still a member of the EU, for example universities participating in Horizon 2020, the Treasury will underwrite the payments of such awards, even when specific projects continue beyond the UK’s departure from the EU.
As a result, British businesses and universities will have certainty over future funding and should continue to bid for competitive EU funds while the UK remains a member of the EU.

 Seven new Horizon 2020 funding calls are now open.
Mobility for growth: €227 million is available for smart transport projects across all transport modes and sectors. Find out more.

Personalised coaching for well-being and care of people as they age: funding is available for a personalised ‘virtual coach’ to help people with age-related conditions. Find out more.

Factories of the future public private partnership: €120 million is available for projects that promote new approaches to industrialisation and the circular economy. Find out more
SPIRE (sustainable process industries) public private partnership: €82.11 million is available for projects that promote new approaches to industrialisation and the circular economy. Find out more.
Energy efficient buildings public private partnership: €54 million is available for projects to develop energy-efficient, clean and affordable buildings. Find out more.

 Creative Europe is the European Union's programme to support the cultural, creative and audiovisual sectors. From 2014-2020, €1.46 billion is available to support European projects with the potential to travel, reach new audiences and encourage skill sharing and development. The Culture sub-programme promotes the creative and cultural sectors
This year's deadlines were originally scheduled for 5th October 2016 but have now been postponed.
The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive (EACEA), which manages the Creative Europe funding opportunities, will be publishing a new timetable for the forthcoming calls and their deadlines as part of what is called the 2017 Work Programme. This is still pending final approval.

Erasmus+ is the EU Programme for
lifelong learning. It supports activities in education, training, youth and
sport across all sectors including Higher Education, Further Education, adult
education, schools and youth activities. The aim is to boost skills and employability
as well as to modernise education, training and youth work across Europe.
Various calls are open from now until October:
- Mobility of Individuals: 4th October 2016;
- Strategic Partnerships: 4th October 2016;
- Meeting Between Young People and Decision-Makers: 4th October 2016

 STEP Beyond Travel Grant
Through the STEP Beyond Travel Grant scheme, ECF funds emerging artists and cultural workers to explore and to exchange views, skills and inspiration. ECF supports all kinds of cross-border creativity - including music, visual art, theatre, dance, film, documentary, multimedia, design, photography, fashion and cultural capacity building.

Please note that the application deadline for Step Beyond travel grants is 60 days prior departure.
