Insight: on Tour in Nottingham

women in sport

From September, Women in Sport will be delivering a number of events to share our learning from recent insights and explore, with partners, how to best action these findings. We will be taking these sessions ‘On Tour’ around the country with the aim of reaching new audiences and making our insight more accessible.

These Sport England funded events will be a mixture of interactive workshops and online events.

The workshops will be aimed at Sports Development professionals who work with local and regional networks to engage women and girls in sport and physical activity at all levels.

Samways Women's and Girl's Cycling Festival

Cycling

Do you enjoy road cycling and would like to take part in an fun event?

You may have been riding your road bike for many years and have ridden on the road with other cyclists. Perhaps you regularly ride your road bike but never had the opportunity to race competitively with other girls or women of a similar age and standard.  Or, if you have started road cycling and would like to enter your first road race on a closed road circuit, then this could be the event you are looking for.

Samways are hosting the Samways Women's and Girl's Cycling Festival at Harvey Hadden Sports Village on Sunday 11 September 2016 from 13:00-17:00 for girls and women from the age of 8 and upwards. There will be racing for beginners, that will give those that enter the thrill of entering a race, with the support of Samways and other riders attending. You will also be able to see other girls and women race and gain points on their British Cycling Racing Licence

The afternoon of racing will consist of 3 races; a time trial, a handicapped race and a scratch race for different abilities which will showcase women’s cycling in a fun and aspirational event, that will empower and give women the confidence to begin, further and broaden their cycling goals.

This is an ideal opportunity for women and girls to attend who are interested in all aspects of cycling and explain all the wonderful opportunities, venues, clubs, councils and facilities that are on offer in the East Midlands that are available to them. There will be catering on site, or bring a picnic and your family for a fantastic afternoon. There is lots on offer for all those that attend.
