Financial Systems and Transactional Team Vacancies

Senior Analysts

We are looking for analysts with both experience of computerised financial income management systems and transactional accounting. The permanent role will be a key member of the Systems team – overseeing and improving the flow of income through a variety of line of business systems used in the business flowing through to our main income management system. The preferred candidate will have a range of system improvement projects under their belt. The Maternity cover role will join our new transactional accounting team ensuring that the actuals are right first time and that the information and reporting available to managers in the business meets their needs. Our Senior Analysts provide people management to a small team of finance colleagues, ensuring targets are met and colleagues are well supported.

Analyst & Senior Technicians

Our Finance Technicians and Analysts are at the heart of creating high quality information that supports both managers in the business to manage their businesses effectively and colleagues in finance to provide insightful assessment and sound financial advice. We are looking for candidates that can lead improvement activities and are expert problem solvers, with  experience of collating financial returns and grant claims for the transactional rolesand system improvement using business tools / financial management systems for the systems roles.

To provide advice, triage and co-ordinate information to enable decision making and risk management on behalf of citizens requesting / requiring access to social care and health services, and to navigate citizens through to the right services based on an assessment of their needs.

To assist in the delivery of an efficient and effective referral service for vulnerable adults sometimes with complex needs and/or difficult and unpredictable situations.

Having a good understanding of the variety of services that are available to meet the individual’s needs.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Knowledge of, or ability to learn about, all core and specialist services and their criteria in order to triage and signpost all calls appropriately in a timely and efficient manner.

2. Excellent communication skills; over the phone or face to face, with the ability to deal with potentially aggressive, emotional and challenging behaviours, including listening and writing skills.

3. Ability to work with a degree of independence to analyse, prioritise, organise and delegate workload in order to co-ordinate appropriate care packages, manage risk and urgency and meet deadlines linking in with senior colleagues and specialist services to enable relevant outcomes.

4. Ability to work alongside clinicians and professional support in order to assess risk and manage complex situations which may involve safeguarding and risk management.

There are ten permanent positions and three fixed term positions available. The fixed term positions are for six months initially.

All roles are based within Nottingham Health and Care Point at Aspect House.

Senior Accountant – Standards and Processes

Working with the Strategic Finance team, the successful candidate will define the framework and timetable for Nottingham City Council’s financial standards, policies and processes. Working closely with the Team Leader for Strategic Finance, the post holder will also be responsible for delivering these standards in conjunction with relevant process owners. We are looking for someone with a good knowledge of best practice, excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to raise awareness and drive compliance across the authority.

The post holder will be responsible for providing a full range of cost management and quantity surveying services, on a variety of projects, working with multi-disciplinary in-house / external teams toward the safe and successful completion and management of projects and programmes of work.

Responsibilities include; Providing full and detailed Quantity Surveying information in connection with financial, fee and contract management; production and management of service wide KPIs and  budget forecasts; contractor performance reviews; monthly financial reports; liaison with design, construction and supply chain teams to capture, analyse and control cost; manage early warnings and change control; negotiating and assessing tenders; preparation of project cost, fee monitoring & value reports; assisting in the preparation and agreement of applications for payment.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Several years post qualification experience as a practising Quantity Surveyor, pre and post contract, in connection with a wide variety of capital/revenue based projects and programmes, including working knowledge on a range of contracts including; JCT/NEC3/Framework Agreements.

2. Essential experience in; feasibility cost estimates/production of tender documentation/cost analysis, preparation of Bill of Quantities, fee monitoring & management/contractual management/estimating and cost planning activities/NRM/specifications/VE and life cycle costing.

3. Excellent communication –oral and written, numeric and computer skills, with an ability to skilfully negotiate in a range of circumstances, in particular contractual situations. A high level of self-motivation.

4. Knowledge equivalent to that gained in training to achieve membership of the RICS as demonstrated by work carried out in previous employment.

Finance Technicians

Our Finance Technicians provide high quality information that supports both:

*.Business Managers  - to manage their businesses effectively and

*.Finance Colleagues - to provide insightful assessment and sound financial advice.

The role will provide you with direct exposure to the organisation on key strategic projects.  You will have excellent excel skills and be able to work with large volumes of data with a strong attention to detail to validate figures & apply logical reasoning to identify trends. 

You will support the Finance Commercial Business Partner in producing KPI reports, working on business cases, benchmarking as well as collating financial returns, grant claims & performance reports.

You will be part qualified or working towards a financial qualification.
