Important changes to Nottinghamshire County Council Recycling Centres

Nottinghamshire County Council is introducing a scheme to ensure that their recycling centres are only used by people that live in Nottinghamshire.

If you are a Nottingham City resident who uses one of the Recycling Centres ran by Nottinghamshire County Council you will no longer be allowed to from 1 September 2016.

There are a number of options that Nottingham City Council provides its residents to help them dispose of items of waste:

 - Nottingham City Council's own household waste recycle centre in Lenton, which is at the following address: Lenton Household Waste and Recycling Centre, Redfield Road, Lenton Industrial Estate, (near the Showcase Cinema), NG7 2UJ. Please visit http://www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/bin-and-rubbish-collections/local-tip-waste-and-recycling-centre/ for more information.

 - There are also a number of charities that take furniture and second hand appliances in good condition, visit http://www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/bulkywaste.

 - A by appointment FREE Bulky Waste Collection Service which takes larger items of household waste such as furniture or white goods like fridges. Residents can arrange this by calling 0115 9152000 or using the online form www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/bulkywaste. Please remember to use this service you must be on the electoral register.

Saving You Money, Saving You Food!

Saving you money, saving you food

Did you know...

Almost 50% of the total amount of food thrown away in the UK comes from our homes. We throw away 7 million tonnes of food and drink from our homes every year in the UK, and more than half of this is food and drink we could have eaten!

Love Food Hate Waste has provided these handy hints to help us manage our food better:

Check the date: Find out about and take control of different date labels. Did you know, you can freeze food right up to the use by date? Freezing on day of purchase is just a myth.

Plan meals. Check your cupboards, write a list, take it to the shops and stick to it! This two week meal planner can help!

Store your food correctly to keep it fresher for longer. Apples go in the fridge, potatoes in a cool dark place, and store bread in the cupboard or freezer. Check out these surprisingly freezable foods!

Do you make too much food? Get your portions just right! This handy portion tool can help!

Last night's leftovers and todays forgotten foods could be tonight's feast!
