The result of the UK referendum in June 2016 has long term implications for EU funding programmes. However, until the UK has formally left the EU and it continues to pay into the EU budget, access to these programmes will continue.
The formal process is for the UK to notify the EU that we intend to leave (the 'Article 50' treaty clause). From this point on there is a period of two years for negotiations to take place until the UK is no longer a member of the EU. As indications are that Article 50 will not be triggered before next year it seems likely that the UK will remain a member until 2019 at the earliest.
 There are no ESIF calls currently open in D2N2.
All existing contracted projects will run as agreed. We are currently awaiting a decision from the UK Treasury on how Brexit will affect projects currently being assessed and future calls under the programme.

 LIFE is the EU’s programme that supports environmental, nature conservation and climate action projects throughout the EU.
The programme is now asking for projects that support actions in the following four areas (with deadlines):
- Climate Change Action (7th September 2016)
- Environment & Resource Efficiency (12th September 2016)
- Nature & Biodiversity (15th September 2016)
- Environmental Governance & Information (15th September 2016)
LIFE projects generally need the applicant to include partners from across more than one member state.

 Horizon 2020 (H2020) is the European Union's research and development funding programme. Over 5 billion euros is being allocated to energy projects over the seven years of the current programme (2014-20).
The current call asks for projects in a number of areas including:
- Waste heat recovery from urban facilities and re-use to increase energy efficiency of district or individual heating and cooling systems;
- New heating and cooling solutions using low grade sources of thermal energy;
- Behavioural change toward energy efficiency through ICT.
Projects generally need a minimum of three partners (including one from outside the UK).

 Creative Europe is the European Union's programme to support the cultural, creative and audiovisual sectors. From 2014-2020, €1.46 billion is available to support European projects with the potential to travel, reach new audiences and encourage skill sharing and development. The Culture sub-programme promotes the creative and cultural sectors
This year's deadlines were originally scheduled for 5th October 2016 but have now been postponed.
The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive (EACEA), which manages the Creative Europe funding opportunities, will be publishing a new timetable for the forthcoming calls and their deadlines as part of what is called the 2017 Work Programme. This is still pending final approval.

Erasmus+ is the EU Programme for
lifelong learning. It supports activities in education, training, youth and
sport across all sectors including Higher Education, Further Education, adult
education, schools and youth activities. The aim is to boost skills and employability
as well as to modernise education, training and youth work across Europe.
Various calls are open from now until October:
- Mobility of Individuals: 4th October 2016;
- Strategic Partnerships: 4th October 2016;
- Meeting Between Young People and Decision-Makers: 4th October 2016
