Welcome to the latest edition of Waste and Recycling News from Nottingham City Council. Our e-newsletter will provide you with current information on our services, plus tips and advice on how you can help keep Nottingham clean.
 Nottingham City Council, in partnership with the Voluntary Sector, is proud to launch a new resource material which will benefit new and emerging communities coming into Nottingham.
The 'Welcome Leaflet' hopes to aid communities and citizens who might not know how to access key services in Nottingham or where to seek support or advice with any issues they may face.
The 'Welcome Leaflet' provides key information on a variety of environmental subjects such as:
- Littering and Spitting
- Anti Social Behaviour
- Dumping Rubbish
- How to check your bin collection day
- Recycling Advice
- Bins on Street Advice
The leaflet has also been translated into different languages in the hope that more citizens understand our environmental policies and contribute to a cleaner city.

 The work by our Street Scene teams doesn't just focus on cleaning; it also focuses on enhancing the public realm, the environment and the character of neighbourhoods. And our fantastic teams have done just that!
These images show the work recently carried out at the Independent Living Schemes at Ogden Court in St Ann's. They have really transformed the area, offering a tranquil haven for residents.
Other recent improvements have also been carried out at The Woodlands in Radford, NUAST College in Dunkirk and Lenton and around St Ann's Chase.
Our Waste in Schools Education Officer, Sim Duhra, has been busy working across the city teaching the next generation about waste, recycling and sustainable energy.
Sim has recently been to congratulate pupils at Blessed Robert Widmerpool in Clifton for achieving their WISE certificate/status!
They have:
- Held a poster competition to design new signs for recycling bins and bought a new recycling bin for the staff room
- Purchased new compost bins so they can now compost all fruit waste from Year 2
- Put the WISE logo on all letters from school and included their WISE work in the schools newsletter
- Continued working on WISE via an on-going action plan.
Sim works with schools and community groups throughout Nottingham and offers a variety of workshops, lessons and interactive activities to promote the key themes of reduce, reuse, repairing and recycling.

 Our programme of Deep Cleans is continuing across local neighbourhoods - sprucing up areas of land to top off our routine cleansing work.
Recent work has taken place in:
- Northgate, Nottingham Road
- Tudor Grove in the Arboretum
- Southchurch Drive, Clifton
- Plantation Side, Leen Valley
- Thurman Street, Arboretum
- York Stone Alleyways, Arboretum
- All Saints pavements, Arboretum
- Subways in Dunkirk and Lenton
- Broxtowe Lane, Aspley
