Working in an area team but available for deployment across localities, you will lead a team delivering effective play and youth provision in a variety of centre-based, outreach and detached settings, ensure co-ordination and joint delivery of positive activities with a range of voluntary and community organisations, and work with colleagues across Children and Families Service to ensure that children and young people’s personal, social and educational development is facilitated and supported. You will oversee the deployment of staff and use of premises to ensure that at all times delivery is planned, of a high quality, promotes the active engagement of children and young people, and meets the needs of Nottingham’s diverse communities.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• An understanding of the importance of delivering good quality play and youth work which is planned, delivered and evaluated to a high standard to meet children and young people’s needs.4. Ensure effective arrangements for safeguarding children and young people in all aspects of provision, maintaining health and safety standards in all settings, including acting as off-site visits co-ordinator and risk assessment of activities.

• Importance of knowing/understanding the core principles of Play and Youth Work.

• Ability to engage and involve children and young people in decision making about zactivities, issues, initiatives and services.

• Excellent practical understanding of equality and diversity issues and how they affect different sections of the community with a strong focus on children and young people

• The commitment to working evenings and weekends.

Nottingham City Council’s Major Projects Directorate has an opportunity in its commercial team for a Commercial and Governance Manager. The role will oversee contract management and service provider performance across a number of the Council’s Private Finance Initiative (PFI) and PFI style contracts, including schools, street lighting and joint service centres (LIFT). The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate experience of managing this type of contract and dealing with and negotiating with senior stakeholders across a range of parties. The post holder will be required to have a strong understanding of risk allocation, performance management, commercial considerations and technical detail across a range of disciplines from facilities management to street lighting technical specifications to funding terms.

In addition to the above the successful candidate will also be responsible for managing the business functions of the Major Projects Directorate. This includes oversight of the Project Support Office and management of business development pipelines and the team’s resource and charging models.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate will therefore need to possess a range of skills and experience from high level stakeholder management and negotiation to complex financial modelling and scenario planning. In addition they will need to be able to combine the ability to look at issues from an in depth short term perspective to extrapolating their impact across a 20 year time frame in line with contract lengths.

To provide safe and appropriate personal care and support to citizens in a way that that maintains their dignity, maximises independence and gives them choice and control over the way their care is provided. This includes writing and maintaining individual person centred care plans and the administration and provision of medication, as well as being prepared to work with Citizens with different and varying needs. 

There are two positions available; one is based at Cherry Trees Resource Centre and one at Martin Jackaman Centre. 

Cherry Trees Resource Centre in Bestwood Park provides residential care for vulnerable older people and specialises in care for people with Dementia. Citizens at Cherry Trees are encouraged to join in as much as possible with the activities that are organised by the Care Workers, such as crafts, bingo and quizzes. There is also an on-site allotment and sensory garden for residents to enjoy. The position will require some weekend work as part of a rota, and hours of work will be various between 7am and 10pm. 

The Martin Jackaman Centre in Aspley provides specialist support for citizens with learning disabilities and other needs to help them lead healthy and active lives. Activities at the centre aim to promote the independence of citizens, and include cooking, swimming and dance. There is a training kitchen, hydrotherapy pool and sensory room at Martin Jackaman Centre. The centre is open on weekdays between 9am and 5pm, although the position may require work outside of these hours occasionally for e.g. trips or special events. 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

-  Ability to encourage and support citizens to achieve and/or maintain maximum independence, and to maintain contact with friends, family and community.

-  Experience and ability to support citizens who have behaviours and ways of expressing themselves that might be challenging.

-  Ability to assess social care and health needs and develop, implement, maintain and update Person Centred Care Plans.

-  Awareness of 2005 Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty and Best Interest Decision making, as well as awareness of the Essential Standards of Quality and Care (CQC).
