Nottingham City Homes seeks new Chair

Nottingham City Homes is an ambitious, award-winning company that manages more than 27,000 homes across the city on behalf of Nottingham City Council. Our vision is to 'create homes and places where people want to live'. All of our homes have reached the decent homes standard and, as part of our 'Building a better Nottingham' programme, we are building hundreds of new council homes – we are diversifying into new service areas which will generate additional resources to reinvest in Nottingham. We're an Investors in People Gold Company and are one of the country's Top 50 housing organisations.

We are looking for an experienced individual to join us when the current Chair reaches the end of her term in September 2016. This is a non-salaried position, with the Board meeting ten times per year.

The Chair of the Board is an important strategic leadership role within the company as we continue to realise our vision of creating homes and places where people want to live. You will demonstrate Board leadership qualities, maintain strong and effective governance, and ensure a constructive working relationship with the Chief Executive and the Executive Management Team is maintained. You will oversee and help shape the strategic ambition of the company.  You will also have a strong commitment to Nottingham City Homes’ vision, values and goals whilst being an excellent ambassador and visible champion for Nottingham City Homes and its subsidiaries. You will believe in the value of social housing and have a commitment to putting tenants at the heart of what we do.

To be successful in this role, you will have had experience of developing and managing constructive relationships, together with a keen understanding of corporate and financial governance. You will be able to demonstrate excellent chairing skills, combining good judgement with excellent strategic and diplomatic skills as well as the capacity to think creatively and offer fresh perspective. In addition, you will have strong communication, representational and influencing skills.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Nick Murphy, Chief Executive, on 0115 7469385 or email nick.murphy@nottinghamcityhomes.org.uk

If you would like to apply for this opportunity, please submit your CV and a personal statement in confidence, of no more than 2 sides of A4, explaining how you meet the job description and person specification to: recruitment@nottinghamcityhomes.org.uk

We welcome applications from all sections of our diverse community.
