The Lord Mayor of Nottingham has sent the condolences of the City of Nottingham to the Mayor of Orlando in the wake of the shootings at the Pulse Night Club.
In a letter to Orlando Mayor, Buddy Dyer, the Lord Mayor, Councillor Mohammed Saghir, said: “On behalf of the citizens of Nottingham, England, I send our heartfelt condolences to the families and the loved ones of all those killed and injured in the senseless act of violence and hate committed in your City.
“Our thoughts are with all of you in Orlando coming to terms with the shock of this horrific attack...
A book of condolence for the victims of the Orlando shootings has been opened in the foyer of The Council House.

Nottingham City Council is poised to take action over a key development site in the city which its owner has failed to develop for years.
The council has drawn up a masterplan for the Island Site, located between London Road and Manvers Street, and is talking to potential developers as part of a soft market testing exercise to consider how the plan could be put into action if the Council acquires the site through a Compulsory Purchase Order.

Improvements to the city’s District Heating system are underwayon Canal Street at its junction with Trent Street.
To reduce the impact of the works, they will take place through the night.
The scheme will take just over five weeks to complete, starting Monday 20 June running until 27 July 2016. Working hours will be Monday to Saturday between 7pm and 6am, with no works happening on Sunday nights.
