On the 6th June we will be launching our Parental Demand Survey. This will form part of our Childcare Sufficiency Assessment, which is one of Council’s duties under the Childcare Act 2006, to enable us to assess whether there is sufficient childcare in the city to meet the needs of parents/carers. We are aiming for as many parents as possible to complete the survey which will tell us about their current and future childcare needs and also tell us about their possible requirements under the new extended entitlement for 3 & 4 year olds from next September. The survey will be online until the end of June and hard copies of the questionnaire and postcards publicising the weblink will be available. It would be greatly appreciated if you could pass this information on and promote the survey to your parents and carers, we will publish the link shortly and keep you posted!
Date for your diary – Childcare Sufficiency Assessment
During the last 2 weeks of June we will be conducting the Provider Survey as part of our Childcare Sufficiency Assessment. This is a survey to tell us about various aspects of your childcare business and it will be mapped against the results of the Parental Demand Survey to give us a detailed picture of whether we have sufficient childcare in the city. We are aiming to have 100% of providers return this questionnaire and will provide all the necessary support to enable you to do so. More information will follow in due course, but please pencil some time in your diaries now to complete this towards the end of June.
Extended Entitlement Delivery Model Consultation –
Closing date 6th June
The DfE’s consultation on proposals for how the
commitment to double free childcare for working parents of 3 and 4 year olds
will be delivered closes on 6th June. The Early Years Team
would encourage all providers to contribute to this consultation which can be

Childcare Disqualification Arrangements
DfE are seeking views on proposals to make changes to
the Childcare Disqualification arrangements in England. This consultation sets
out three separate options for changing the arrangements in schools and
non-domestic registered settings. They are not proposing to make changes to
the arrangements where childcare is provided on domestic premises.
