We are looking for a Public Health specialist to lead and coordinate the contribution of the wider team in relation to specific agendas including sexual health, children and young people and disability. The role will entail working with partners in the leadership and management of specific work areas to improve health and wellbeing including promoting a culture change within the city whereby citizens are empowered to make healthy choices and are better enabled to self-care. You will require skills to interpret and critique intelligence from a wide range of sources in order to deliver high quality needs assessments, help shape and review commissioned services, policy and strategy development. The role will also have a focus on further embedding public health expertise across the local authority to influence the way we deliver services to maximise health and wellbeing. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: To coordinate, manage and undertake technical quantitative and qualitative public health analysis including health needs assessments, production of joint strategic needs assessment chapters, health impact assessments, health equity audits and evaluation in conjunction with partners. To assess the evidence of effectiveness of public health interventions, to inform service commissioning, policy and strategy development and review. To work with Public Health Consultants in the provision of population health advice, information and expertise to CCGs to support them in commissioning evidence-based, cost-effective health services that improve population health and reduce inequalities. To lead and supervise teams comprised of members from across agencies and internally, engaging expertise across the board, working in a matrix management style to undertake work to address the wide range of public health issues in the City. The post will oversee and allocate the work of the team.
