Partnership working with the Red Cross

Sim Red Cross

Sim Duhra, our Waste Education and Promotions Officer, is working with the Red Cross to help spread our messages on waste and recycling.

Sim will be engaging with citizens at the Tuesday Night Welcome Group (funded by the Red Cross) which welcomes new Asylum Seekers and Refugees to the city.

Over 100 people attended the Spring Nowruz Party where Sim spoke with new citizens on issues such as how to use bins, bins on streets, bulky waste collections and contamination issues.  Volunteers also support the sessions by translating/interpreting Sim's conversations.

Sim is hoping this work will help support engagement work with new citizens around our waste and recycling policies to help the work of our front line services and keep Nottingham clean.

If you know of a school or community group that could link up with Sim's work, please contact her on 0115 876 5649 or email sim.duhra@nottinghamcity.gov.uk

Redfield Road Recycling Centre opening times

Opening times for Nottingham's Redfield Road Household Waste and Recycling Centre have changed due to the change in daylight hours.

The Centre, located on Redfield Road (near the Showcase Cinema) is now open 8am as usual, but stays open until 8pm every day until the end of September.

Click here for further information about what you can and can not recycle at the centre.

Working to improve your neighbourhoods!

Dunkirk and Lenton clean up

Our Neighbourhood Development Officers and Street Scene Teams have been working hard improving your neighbourhoods by carrying out Week of Actions and Deep Cleans as well as their day to day cleansing and maintenance work:

St Ann's: Working in partnership with Community Protection, the Neighbourhood Watch Group and Traffic Enforcement, our teams carried out a Week of Action on Bluecoat Street. Our Street Scene Team did a fantastic job of cleaning the area and carrying out a general clean of the estate. They have also repaired the fencing in the car park adjacent to the public footpath.

Dunkirk and Lenton: A Day of Action made a visible difference to the neighbourhood, including planting up the Willoughby Street Planters, a collection of bulky waste and deep cleans of streets.

Basford: Our team deep cleaned the area around Basford United Football Club including Mill Street playing fields. This included paths around the site, the River Leen paths and parts of the Birds Estate. Over the next few weeks new bins will also be installed along the River Leen path.
