Footballer Viv Anderson to launch FREEsport

Viv Anderson

Come and join former Nottingham Forest and England footballer Viv Anderson at the launch of FREEsport at 7pm today (Wednesday 27 April) at Southglade Leisure Centre during City of Football's first 'Rusty Returners' football session for men over 40.

Following the successful pilot programme in January and February, FREEsport will now be extended until March next year, with sessions including archery, badminton, tennis and netball on offer at leisure centres and parks across the city.  Additional sports, such as 'Rusty Returners' football, VX (a cross between dodgeball and lacrosse) and petanque, will be available until Sunday 19 June and further sports will be announced for autumn and winter programmes nearer the time.

FREEsport gives Nottingham adults the chance to try a new sport or improve existing skills for free.  The sessions take place at various times, including evenings, on different days of the week to give as many people as possible chance to join in.  Prizes will be on offer for those completing at least eight sessions.

View the full programme and book your free sessions at www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/freesport, call 0115 876 1600 or download the new NCCSport app.
