Nottingham Castle Museum and Art Gallery will shortly be unveiling a major exhibition of the works of Gordon Cheung. Shown in the city for the first time, and supported by Edel Assanti gallery, London, this major solo exhibition features new large-scale collages (paintings) with Cheung’s trademark use of clippings from the Financial Times, and animations and digital works made especially for or in response to Nottingham Castle and its collections.
Nottingham City Council’s domestic solar panel programme has teamed up with local companies Robin Hood Energy and EkkoSense to further develop the energy sector in Nottingham.
The Council has an extensive solar panel programme across its council houses which are managed by Nottingham City Homes and the city has one the highest take ups of this green energy source in the UK which means there are major opportunities for local energy businesses.
Nottingham software developer EkkoSense have recently won a council tender to supply a monitoring system for over 3,000 of its solar installations.

Former Nottingham Forest and England footballer Viv Anderson will help launch FREEsport, a free project to give Nottingham adults the chance to try a new sport or improve their existing skills, on Wednesday 27 April.
The launch will take place during City of Football’s first ‘Rusty Returners’ football session for men aged 40 or over at Southglade Leisure Centre in Bestwood at 7pm.

Sean Murray, the winner of last year’s BBC/RHS Great Chelsea Garden Challenge, has been added to the programme of Nottingham City Council’s first East Midlands Flower Show.
Sean, whose winning garden was created on Main Avenue at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show, has appeared on national and local television and radio and will be giving a talk at the East Midlands Flower Show, which takes place at Newstead Abbey on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June 2016.

Lines of poetry will light up above a redeveloped gateway to the city, as part of a new piece of art which celebrates Nottingham’s UNESCO City of Literature status.
And members of the public can put forward suggestions (submit to: arts@nottinghamcity.gov.uk) for words or phrases from favourite poems which could be used in the installation, commissioned by Nottingham City Council.
The permanent artwork, called Line of Light, will be installed under the arch of the tram bridge over Station Street as part of a project to further develop the city’s cultural offer.
