Welfare changes booklet

The Welfare Reform and Work Bill gained Royal Assent on 16 March and is now the Welfare Reform and Work Act 2016.  Nottingham City Council Policy team have updated the information booklet detailing the full range of welfare changes contained in the Act.  These include the benefits freeze and the National Living Wage which will come into force this week on Friday 1st April 2016 and other changes which will take effect over the next two years.

The Welfare Changes booklet has been created to help Nottingham citizens (and organisations supporting them) to better understand the upcoming changes.  It sets out what the changes are, what they mean for citizens and where to get more advice and help, including support finding employment.

The electronic version of this booklet is available here (or by clicking on the image above).  The booklet has been circulated internally to council teams who are supporting vulnerable citizens; externally to the advice and voluntary sector and other partners, and to wider partnership networks via social media.

Please feel free to share this information widely, including with colleagues, residents, services users, neighbours and relatives.

We hope you find this a useful resource.  If you have any questions, please call (0115) 9155555 and ask to speak to the Nottingham City Council Policy Development Team.
