This monthly newsletter aims to keep you informed on everything that's going on across Nottingham from walking, cycling, public transport, Robin Hood Card, Citycard savings and our Major Transport Projects

Western Cycle superhighway update

The next phase of works began on March 29th and will continue until 6th May. All parking has been suspended and temporary relocations of bus stops and pedestrian crossings have been implemented between Palatine Street to Haslam Street.

Easylink launch

On the 16th March the new Easylink bus service launched with the help of Councillor Watson and Councillor Campbell (pictured alongside Community Transport Manager Ian Combellack). 

The service is designed for those less able to use traditional Public Transport services enhancing accessibility to medical appointments, lunch with friends, a trip to the cinema and more!

red arrow concessionary pass information

From the 1st April free travel for all National concessionary card holders ceased on the Trent Barton red arrow service from Nottingham to Derby. Concessionary card holders will still be able to enjoy free bus travel from Nottingham to Derby, by choosing to use other frequent services such as Trent Barton’s indigo and i4 services and the Y5 run by Yourbus. Over 3.500 passengers enjoying Robin Hood flexibility!

The Robin Hood pay-as-you-go smartcard has been issued more than 3,500 times at on-street ticket machines since its launch in December 2015.

Robin Hood card customers are given great travel benefits which include only being charged on the basis of the trips actually made, with joint fare deals for journeys involving more than one transport provider. Plus by using a Robin Hood Card it could save you 10% less than paying by cash!

Citylink 1+2 concessionary card fare change

From the 4th April, customers who have a concessionary pass that is not issued by Nottingham City Council will be asked to pay the usual fare from this stop (£3.50).

Free travel with a concessionary pass will only be offered to Nottingham City Council concessionary pass holders from the Park and Ride sites (Queens Drive and Colwick Racecourse)

Huntingdon Street works

Further district heating improvement works began on 25th March due to finalise after three weeks. The works will be undertaken during normal daytime working hours with a significant impact on traffic flows.

Midlands Connect

Midlands Connect is a £5 million collaboration with central government that brings together 28 local authorities and 11 local enterprise partnerships from across the Midlands. Nottingham is proud to support and be a part of Midlands Connect.

Together the Midlands Connect Partnership and the Department for Transport is developing a transport strategy that identifies the major infrastructure projects needed to improve connectivity and drive economic growth and power the Midlands Engine.

Fancy a Street Party for the Queen's Birthday?

The Queen's 90th birthday is on April 21 but the main focus of celebrations will be over the weekend of June 11 and 12. 

This is a great opportunity to organise a street party and we want to help you by providing you with information and advice on the free permit you will need to close a street. Applications need to be in by the end of April.

Wilford Road reminder
