Cost of Living Crisis
In response to the motions agreed at Full Council in June 2022, the Chief Executive wrote to the Prime Minister and our local MPs and has received the following responses from HM Treasury and Milton Keynes MPs.
HM Treasury also advised that they had launched a cost of living support page which outlines all of the help available to people which you can find here.
Milton Keynes City Council
In line with a decision made by Full Council, we are updating our name and logo to reflect the award of City Status. From 1 September we will be introducing the Milton Keynes City Council name / branding on our website and digital communications. Signs, vehicles and branded clothing will be updated as it is naturally maintained and replaced. We’ll also be using up existing stocks of leaflets and headed paper rather than reprinting straight away. If you have any questions, please email communications@milton-keynes.gov.uk.
LGA Training Updates
The latest LGA Highlighting Political Leadership document which sets out the different leadership programmes available, as well as other LGA events running in September and other resources, is available here.
For more information or to request to book onto any events, please contact Naquita Clarke.
UK Parliament Week (UKPW)
It’s UK parliament week from the 14-20 November and now is great time to think about getting involved. UKPW is an annual event, spreading the word about what Parliament is, what it does and how people can get involved.
We’d love to hear your activity ideas and Parishes or Councillors interested in participating alongside the Democratic Services Team at MKC should contact Pete Brown. To find out more, visit ukparliamentweek.org.
Donut and Politics with YCAB – 10 September 2022

Landscaping Teams Re-deployed
Whilst the heatwave means the usual mowing of grass has stopped, our landscaping teams have instead taken the opportunity to focus on other jobs in and around Milton Keynes.
The teams have been clearing vegetation from paths and sightlines, strimming weeds and tidying up patches of green near schools, local shops and on traffic islands.

Green Business Recovery Fund - Prism Project
MK Council is providing support to businesses to help them achieve their climate action goals through its £100,000 project.
The Council is working with Ngage on its Prism project which will run for one year, providing practical support for local firms including grant funding and training to help them make the most of low carbon opportunities.
Ngage will use its expertise to guide businesses on how to achieve their carbon cutting ambitions. The Prism project is part of MK Council’s £500,000 Green Business Recovery Fund which is intended to help local businesses improve their green offer to local residents and create more sustainable jobs.
