Dear Colleague,

We invite you to join and support the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) sixth annual #MedSafetyWeek social media campaign on 1-7 November 2021.

This year’s campaign theme is reporting suspected side effects following vaccination. This forms part a global effort by national medicines regulatory authorities from over 60 countries and their stakeholders to raise awareness about the importance of reporting.

Vaccines are life-saving medicinal products that are given to protect individuals against serious infections and sometimes the most effective way to prevent infectious diseases.

We are calling on all healthcare professionals (HCPs), national immunisation programme staff, as well as patients, their carers and families to report suspected side effects from vaccines or medicines to the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.

Please support in promoting this important public health message – share, like, repost the MHRA social media posts during 1-7 November. You can also discuss with colleagues and patients how reporting using the Yellow Card scheme helps to improve the safety of vaccines and medicines for everyone. Reporting helps to identify new side effects and gain more information about known effects.

See our October Drug Safety Update with further information about this campaign, which you can also use as copy in your newsletters or to engage with your stakeholders.

Visit our Yellow Card scheme site later this week for the 2021 materials to raise awareness.

If you have any questions about the campaign please email engagement@mhra.gov.uk.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,

Patient, Public and Stakeholder Engagement team
