The Business Energy Advice Service (BEAS) offers free energy assessments and grants ranging from £1,000 to £100,000 for businesses implementing energy-saving projects. This pilot programme, run by Worcestershire County Council’s Net Zero Worcestershire team in partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority, is designed to help businesses save money and drive growth.
After an energy assessment, your business will receive tailored advice on cost-saving measures, including upgrading to energy-efficient equipment, adopting smart technology, and optimising internal processes to reduce energy use.

Looking to develop new products, services, or technologies that set your business apart? The Innovation Worcestershire Programme offers Malvern-based SMEs specialist support to help you grow through innovation.
This programme provides an initial diagnostic assessment of your business, identifying opportunities for new products or services. Through one-to-one tailored advice and dynamic workshops, you’ll receive a bespoke business innovation action plan designed to meet your needs, along with follow-up support for implementing the recommendations.
Eligible SMEs can access up to £20,000 in grant funding for research and development projects, offered on a match-funded and competitive basis (with SMEs providing at least 60% of the project cost).

Organisations and businesses are being encouraged to apply for a grant to plant a community orchard.
Between £200 and £10,000 can be claimed from Malvern Hills District Council to support the creation of a community orchard, which includes the cost of the trees, protection, fencing and installation.
Groups including schools, residents’ associations, community groups, charities, businesses, and parish/town councils across the Malvern Hills District are being invited to apply.
The orchards can be on private or public land with the aim of allowing community access and engagement opportunities.
Deadline for applications is 20 December 2024.

Worcestershire organisations can access funding to reduce the cost of employee training.
Worcestershire organisations can claim back 50% of the training costs, up to £6,000 per organisation, for their Worcestershire based employees. This means that the new funding can allow organisations to upskill or redeploy their employees to maximise their effectiveness. To date over 400 employees have been supported to upskill or retrain with support via the SkillsBoost Worcestershire programme and there is still more support available. Businesses of any size and sector are eligible for the programme as long as the employees they are looking to upskill or retrain reside in Worcestershire.
Funding for the SkillsBoost programme is only available until 31 March 2025.

The River Severn Partnership is offering a grant to River Severn catchment area businesses to boost wireless innovation.
Businesses and organisations that have been operating for more than a year in the sectors of water management, agriculture and public sector can apply for grant funding of up to £5,000 to support the purchase and installation of wireless technologies.

The UNITY Building Brighter Futures programme is a UKSPF funded programme designed to provide support to those who are economically inactive in the Malvern Hills District. This is a hard to access cohort of constituents so requires a different set of activities.
The support has been designed to be holistic including self-confidence skills, careers advice and help accessing the correct health care or training. The programme has been delivered by a team of experienced job coaches from Community Housing.
£150,000 has been invested over two years into the provision of advice, 1-1 support, social media and regular drop-in advice sessions in various locations across the district such as Malvern Town Football Club, The Octagon, The Pump Rooms, Upton Baptist Church, Suckley Church, Job Club at Malvern Library and The Foyer on Spring Lane.
Overall, the project has so far supported 141 constituents across Malvern Hills District including 67 people in employment or self-employment following support.

Targeted Support: Eligible businesses can now apply for up to five days’ worth of free, tailored support to help improve workforce health and wellbeing. Support includes 121 coaching, mental health training, soft skills and personal development, leadership and management training, and designing and implementing wellbeing strategies. Malvern Hills Businesses continue to benefit from the Malvern Hills Upskilling Grant.
The grant scheme provides funding of up to £1,500 to help with the business cost of training new staff (i.e. apprenticeships, trainee or other). In order to qualify businesses must be based in the Malvern Hills district postcode area, employ fewer than 250 people and pay at least the minimum wage to the trainee for a post of at least 30 hrs a week including training leading to a recognised qualification.

£500 is available to trainees and apprentices to help cover the cost of travel, equipment, tools and clothing necessary to access training.
The support is available to residents of Malvern Hills District who:
- Earn less than £250 per week.
- Attend a qualifying course.
- Are employed for a post of 30 hours a week for a minimum of 12 months.
