Supporting businesses and the wider economy is one of our top priorities. The Economic Development team works to support businesses and the growth of the Malvern Hills district economy. This month the team have been working on:
- Launch event for UKSPF business support programme taking place 19 September at Malvern Theatres, WR14 3HB from 11:30am - 2pm. Find out more below.
- Improving the Visit The Malverns website with performance and security enhancements.
- Drafting a new Economic Vision for the District with key ambitions to be discussed by our Executive Committee that will be the basis of a 3 year economy action plan.
- Working on a new Shop Local marketing campaign to support our town centres and liaising with Worcestershire County Council to deliver signage review.
- Supporting autumn cultural festivals with marketing and organisation, such as the Great Malvern Festival of Stories for Children.

Following a recent Government announcement it has been confirmed that the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (WLEP) will continue to deliver its services.
Paul Walker MBE, Chair of the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “We will continue to deliver on our 20-year Plan for Growth to make Worcestershire a connected, creative, dynamic economy for all.”

 Part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Malvern Hills District Council and Worcestershire County Council support is available for:
Start-Up Businesses: This includes Start-Up Club workshops, mentorship and grants of up to £5,000.
Fuelling Growth: Support from Elevate Worcestershire to grow SME's through one-to-one coaching and peer support. Grants of up to £10,000 available.
Net Zero: Support to decarbonise with in-depth reviews and online Decarbonisation Portal. Grants of up to £8,000 available to implement energy saving initiatives.

£500 is available to trainees and apprentices to help cover the cost of travel, equipment, tools and clothing necessary to access training.
The support is available to residents of Malvern Hills District who earn less than £220 per week, attend a qualifying course and are employed for a post of 30 hours a week for a minimum of 12 months.

We will provide funding of up to £1,500 to help with the business cost of training new staff (i.e. apprenticeships, trainee or other). In order to qualify the business must be based in the Malvern Hills district postcode area, employ fewer than 250 people and pay at least the Minimum Wage to the trainee for a post of at least 30 hrs a week including training leading to a recognised qualification. |
