We're hotting up for a Summer of Sport!

It's almost July and our Summer of Sport programme is gaining momentum with more activities being added this week.

 

See below for details of our new sessions, but don't forget to follow our social media @medwaysport or check out the website to find out more.


yoga

Community Yoga

Join our Medway Sport yogis for FREE community yoga sessions under the ancient backdrop of our Norman castle, built in 1127.

 

Starting this Saturday at Rochester Castle, 12noon; and every Saturday thereafter.

Suitable for families and all the community. There's no need to book, just come along with a mat or towel.

 

The first two weeks (1 and 8 July) will be in the Castle Moat and in the Castle Gardens from Saturday, 15 July.

 

We'll see you on the mat!

Family Fun FriYay

Our family friendly multi-sports sessions are back for the summer but with a new location of Luton Rec, Chatham.

 

Starting this Friday, 30 June, join our sports coaches every Friday from 4pm to 6pm. No need to book, just drop-in. Also, it's FREE.

Drop-in Football

Weekly FREE drop-in football sessions starting from Saturday, 1 July 2023 at the following locations:

 

Rainham Rec

  • Time: 10am to 11am (for under 8s)
  • Time: 11am to 12pm (for ages 8 to 12 years).

 Gillingham Park

  • Time: 12.30pm to 1.30pm (for under 8s) 
  • Time: 1.30pm to 2.30pm (for ages 8 to 12 years)

Beechings Way, Twydall

  • Time: 10am to 11am (for under 8s)
  • Time: 11am to 12pm (for ages 8 to 12 years)

Pottery Road, Hoo

  • Time: 12.30pm to 1.30pm (for under 8s) 
  • Time: 1.30pm to 2.30pm (for ages 8 to 12 years).

No need to book, just turn-up ready to play.

Join our fitness instructors for a FREE fun workout you can do with your family.

 

Buggy workout

  • Location: meet near the play area on Jacksons Field, Rochester
  • Date: every Saturday
  • Time: 9am to 10am

Family workout

  • Location: meet near play area on Jacksons Field, Rochester
  • Date: every Saturday
  • Time: 10am to 11am
  • Suitable for families to work out together. 

You do not need to book for these session.

All equipment is provided. Just wear trainers and casual/sports clothing.

Want to practice your slam-dunk or just want to make the most of the light evenings outdoors with friends?

 

Meet qualified coaches from Kent Crusaders Basketball Club, every Thursday

at Strood Waterfront Ball Cage, Canal Road, Strood.

 

Starting Thursday, 29 June 2023 and every Thursday thereafter.

  • 5pm to 6pm (8 to 12 year olds)
  • 6pm to 7pm (13 to 16 year olds).

There's no need to book, and sessions are FREE to attend.


touch rugby

Touch Rugby

Come along and play touch rugby with Medway Rugby Club, every Wednesday, 7pm to 8.30pm at Priestfields, Rochester.

 

Suitable for those who are 12 years+. 

There's no need to book, whilst the cost is as little as £1 per person.

Summer Solstice Yoga

Every Wednesday, 7.45pm to 8.30pm at Deangate Ridge Athletics Track. Book online through Hoo Sports Centre. Sessions are £5 per person, but free to Premier Members.

 

Colts Cricket training with Frindsbury Cricket Club

Every Wednesday, 6pm to 7pm at Frindsbury Cricket Club, Frog island, Upnor. There's no need to book, whilst sessions cost as little as £1 per person.

 

Family circuits

Every Thursday at Medway Park, Gillingham from 6.30pm to 7.15pm. Sessions are £7.70 per adult, but free to Premier Members. Adults and children workout together. Book online.

 

Street Cricket with Kent Cricket

Every Monday from 5pm to 6pm at Medway Park. Sessions are FREE and there's no need to book.

 

Family Tai Chi with Shi Kon Martial Arts

Every Tuesday at Victoria Gardens Chatham Bandstand. The 9.30am session is for parents and children, whilst the 10.30am is suitable for all. There's no need to book and sessions are free to attend. 

 

Family pop-up sport

Every Tuesday at Luton Millenium Green from 4.30pm to 6.30pm. There's no need to book and sessions are free to attend.

Coming soon...

Walking Cricket with Kent Cricket

Starting on Thursday, 6 July from 1pm to 3pm (including cricket tea). Sessions will take place at Strood Sports Centre football pitches. There's no need to book and sessions are free to attend. Donations towards the tea are welcome.

 

Aqua Aerobics

Starting on Saturday, 5 August from 11.30am to 12.15pm. Sessions will take place at The Strand Lido. Classes are included in your entrance ticket but booking essential.

 

The Medway Mile

Taking place on Friday, 21 July from 5pm to 9pm at Medway Park, Gillingham. Medway's mass participation event is rapidly filling places, so make sure to register now for your place and free t-shirt.

 

Mini youth Sports Camps

Available at Medway Park and Strood Sports Centre. Please visit our website to find out more. There are free places available for children in receipt of benefit-related free school meals.

 

Swimming lesson crash courses
