Dear Member,
We’re making an important change. From Thursday 1 May 2025, visiting hours on our adult wards will be extended to 8am to 8pm. This decision follows feedback from over 800 patients, visitors, and staff, many of whom who highlighted the importance of having loved ones present while in hospital. Flexible visiting arrangements will continue in maternity, the children’s ward, neonatal and adult intensive care units, and end of life care.
At the same time, we’ve heard concerns about maintaining patient privacy, rest, and managing the impact on staff. That’s why we’re creating a Visitors’ Charter - a set of shared expectations and behaviours to help make extended visiting work for everyone.
We need your input
We want to ensure the charter is a reasonable and fair set of standards for all. So we’d like to set up a small group of Trust members who can review the draft charter and tell us what you think. If you’d like to help shape it, join us in person to share your feedback.
When: Wednesday 16 April, 3pm to 4pm
Where: Trafalgar Suite, Green Zone, Level 3
Your input will help ensure the charter works for patients, visitors and staff, addressing concerns and providing the necessary support.
If you'd like to be part of this, please register your interest by Friday 11 April, 5pm by emailing met-tr.members-medway@nhs.net. Light refreshments and free parking will be provided. Spaces are limited, so please respond as soon as possible.
We hope you can join us!
Many thanks,
The Membership Team
