Training puts the huddle in the spotlight
The first frontline teams are now roughly half way through their training and coaching. A recent focus has been on Improvement Huddles, an important routine within Patient First.
The huddle is a daily meeting, held for 10-15 minutes, with everyone standing around local improvement and performance boards. The board shows the specific opportunities for improvement that the ward, department or service area is focusing on and tracks progress and actions being taken.
The teams have also started to think about their specific metrics and developing their own Scorecards (see definition below), so that they are prepared to start holding their own regular Patient First huddles.
Reminder: the first four frontline teams to go through the Patient First frontline training are: Keats Ward, Penguin Assessment Unit, Arethusa Ward and Same Day Emergency Care.
Scorecard: a visual tool within the Patient First improvement system, made up of metrics that have been chosen for improvement and that are being monitored to ensure performance is maintained.
Updated Trust Style Guide and Branding Guidelines
The Trust’s Style Guide and Branding Guidelines have been updated to include information on how we should include Patient First in our communications and materials.
The Patient First logo is the visual identity for our new improvement programme and should be used alongside our Trust logo on Trust documents, publications, patient information and presentations from now on.
The guide giving full details is available on the intranet here. If you have any questions, please contact the Communications and Engagement Team at communications.medwayft@nhs.net
A Patient First email signature has already been produced and should be used by all staff. This is available from the Patient First section of the intranet. Please download it and add it to your signature if you are not already using it. Thank you.
