Budget Survey 2026
Have your say on Council Spending
Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) has been able successfully to balance day-today income and expenditure over the past ten years. In 2024/2025 we set a balanced budget, and overall income and expenditure for the year were within budget. Your feedback from the last survey was fed into the budget process and we managed to set a balanced budget for the current financial year, 2025/26.
Looking further ahead, the financial outlook for (MBC is uncertain. Inflation remains high, and this affects what we pay for the services we deliver to residents. At the same time, we are limited in the ways we can raise money to cover our costs. We also plan to fund an ambitious capital programme, which includes delivery of Quality Homes for Life .
This means that we may have to make some difficult decisions in the near future, so we can set a balanced budget for 2026/27. Before we do this, we would like to hear your views on our spending priorities and living in Maidstone.

Your views are important to us, as they help councillors make decisions about how best to spend the Council’s money, and how we can raise money in the first place.

Statement of Licensing Policy |
|
|
The current Statement of Licensing Act Policy was approved by Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) in 2020 and has been in place since January 2021. Under section 5 of the Act, the Licensing Authority is required to revise its licensing policy every five years.
The proposed draft policy largely replicates the existing policy, together with some additional elements, which are based on emerging Government advice and best practice.

Arts & Culture in Maidstone
Tell us what do you think about art & culture provisions in Maidstone
MBC is in the process of reviewing and updating the Arts & Culture Strategy for the borough of Maidstone, with the revised strategy due to be considered by Cabinet in July 2025.
Please help us by completing our short survey on arts and culture activities and provisions within Maidstone.

Alongside updating the Strategy, we are working on a live ‘Action Plan’ which will guide how we deliver on the Strategy’s key objectives. We want to understand residents’ views on arts provisions within the borough and any barriers they may experience in arts and cultural engagement.
