Food Waste Action Week 17-23 March 2025 |
|
|
The annual food waste reduction campaign, supported by WRAP and Love Food Hate Waste, returns between 17 and 23 March 2025.
This year's focus highlights the benefits of buying your fruit and vegetables loose, that way you only pick up what you will eat.
Maidstone Borough Council is supporting the campaign by placing stickers promoting the food waste service on black household waste bins across the borough.

Announcing March's Winner
Mrs S of ME15 had her combination caddy package delivered on the 20 February and the MBC Waste Management Team found the food bin presented, ready for collection on Friday 7 March 2025 as part of their inspections.
As the winner of this month's challenge, Mrs S is the proud recipient of a £50 shopping voucher!
Mrs S has been making use of the weekly food waste collection service on a regular basis and picked up on the caddy package offer after seeing it advertised in a previous edition of our newsletter.
If you think you could be next month's winner, make sure you purchase your combination caddy package and follow the terms and conditions.

What do you think of food waste separation?
MBC has opened a consultation for you to share your thoughts on waste separation and how the Council can improve the service to encourage more participation from residents.
The consultation closes on Sunday 30 March and will take you less than five minutes to complete.
|
|
Thank you for your food waste!
Where residents are seen using the separate food waste system, they are being thanked with a roll of complimentary compostable bags.
MBC Waste Management officers have recently issued more 'thank you' rolls in roads in the ME14, ME15, ME16, ME17 and TN12 areas.
Other roads in the borough will be visited shortly.

Your Waste, Your Responsibility |
|
|
This is how illegal carriers get rid of your waste!
|
|
We are all responsible for ensuring that our waste is removed legally, and disposing of it through a fly-tipper can result in you receiving a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN).
Protect yourself by checking that the company removing your waste is a legally registered waste carrier.
You must also ensure you get a waste transfer note for any waste removed from your property.

Let's Talk Waste
Do you meet regularly with friends or a social group? Maybe at a morning coffee, evening dinner or lunch club?
MBC Waste Management Team will be available from early June 2025 to come and deliver a presentation and discuss the recycling and waste services provided across the borough of Maidstone..
Why is the recycling material is collected the way it is? Where does it all go to? What happens to it?
If your friends or club are interested in a visit, please get in touch by emailing Recycling@Maidstone.gov.uk
