Don't throw away broken items! Bring them down to the Repair Café at Lockmeadow on the first Saturday of the month, where for a voluntary donation, they can be fixed or upcycled by Maidstone Climate Action Network (CAN) volunteers.

The Maidstone Christmas Donation Hub is back!
Following the huge generosity shown by residents at last year's hub with over £18,000 of gifts donated to charitable organisations, Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) is once again inviting people to help make Christmas happen for those most in need in the community.

Maidstone Leisure Centre Gets an Upgrade
Maidstone Leisure Centre is undergoing £2.5m of upgrades and improvements. Work so far has included a new splash pad, lagoon pool, water cannons, tipping buckets, slides, water webs, spin sprayers, splash wheels and a new improved wave machine.
Further upgrades will include: • New soft play area • Fitness and teaching pool ventilation system • Changing village ventilation system • Fitness and leisure dividing glazing.

🌻 Sowing the Sunflower Seeds of Change
As part of the national campaign '16 Days of Action Against Domestic Abuse 2024', MBC is working together with Golding Homes to produce a 'Purple Sunflower Campaign'.
Staff and organisations linked with domestic abuse will create 2,956 purple sunflowers - one for every victim of domestic abuse in the borough in the last year - which will go on display in Maidstone Town Centre between 25 November - 10 December.

Every Tuesday between 9.30am and 11.30am, confidential support and advice around domestic abuse is provided at Trinity, 20 Church Street, ME14 1LY.
No appointment needed - all are welcome.

New Community Arts & Maker Hub Coming Soon
A new arts centre planned for Granada House, Gabriel's Hill will provide a range of facilities for local artists, creative people and groups, including seven low-rent studios, exhibition space and a retail area to showcase and sell their work.

TV's Hugh Dennis Officially Opens New Archaeology Gallery
Star of More 4's Great British Dig, Hugh Dennis opened the new archaeology gallery ‘Lives In Our Landscape’ at the Maidstone Museum. The exciting new gallery tells the story of how people have lived in the area over a vast span of time, with objects dating back more than 600,000 years.

Shaun the Sheep Raises Thousands for Hospice
Flocks of visitors headed to the town centre over the summer to see the Shaun in the Heart of Kent art trail.
The 109 'ewe-nique' statues helped to raise an amazing £265,250 for the Heart of Kent Hospice.

MBC's Fight Against Fly-Tipping Features on The One Show
In a bid to combat waste crime, MBC has increased fines for fly-tipping to £1,000 and for littering, up to £500.
What's more, the MBC's new state-of-the-art CCTV cameras used to tackle the issue caught the attention of BBC's The One Show who asked to join the team in August and find out how they catch waste criminals.

Tell Us About the Heritage That Matters to You
Individuals, businesses and organisations are invited to take part in a consultation to help create a Heritage Strategy for Maidstone.
MBC wants to hear your views on everything from museum collections, public art, parks and historic gardens to archaeology and cultural activities, events and festivals.
An art competition for under 18s is also launching as part of the consultation. Entrants are being asked to create an artwork of the heritage that matters to them, with winners' entries incorporated into the final Heritage Strategy.
