Maidstone River Festival This Saturday 29 July
|

This Saturday, enjoy a free community festival for all ages that celebrates the River Medway and its historical importance in the development of Maidstone as the county town.
There will be a variety of entertainment including a raft race, dressed up boats, dance and music performances. There will also be illuminated boats and paddle boarders in the evening, with a firework finale from the top of Fremlin Walk to finish off the event.
Entertainment will take place all day at Coronation Square at Lockmeadow, along the river, and other participating venues.

Steampunk Festival This Saturday 29 July ~ 10am - 3pm
 Join in Maidstone Museum's glorious steampunk adventure this Saturday, with lots of stalls and activities to enjoy at the Muggleton Village Fair!
Browse the stalls to find your perfect Steampunk accessory and follow the Steampunk Trail to claim your badge (£2 per child - includes a museum pen)!
Timed activities include:
10.30 - Wackiest Hat Competition (under 12’s). Design and create a fantastical, wacky hat of your choosing – prizes for the most splendid!
11:00 - Wizard Storytelling
12:00 - Familiar Flinging
1:00 - Tea Duelling (with biscuits!)
2:00 - Wizard Storytelling

Brenchley Bandstand Concerts
Enjoy free live music in the beautiful surroundings of Brenchley Gardens this Summer!
Come and enjoy a series of concerts featuring original live music from local bands on Saturday afternoons (1pm - 5pm) and traditional jazz and big band sounds on Sundays (3pm - 5pm). Bring a picnic, sit back and relax.
There will be multiple concerts from July to September, with Invicta Jazz Orchestra performing this Sunday 30 July.

'Helping Health - 75 Years of the NHS' Exhibition Available until 14 October |

This free exhibition explores the last 75 years of the NHS, with a key focus on hospitals and their medical staff in Maidstone.
Discover what healthcare was like before the NHS was introduced and find out about the hospitals that have now gone, uniforms through the ages and some of the equipment used.

Summer Make It! Crafts
Entertain the kids at Maidstone Museum this summer holiday with themed craft sessions based on the Museum galleries and exhibitions. Sessions will run from Tuesday to Thursday each week until 24 August, with three sessions per day. Each session is £3 per child and you can book at the Reception desk.

SEND Family Crafts Every Friday from 28 July - 25 August
The Museum is creating some SEND friendly craft activities for families. The activities will be linked to the natural history collection and will take place in a relaxed environment.
Suitable for families with SEND children including siblings.
£3 per child per session. Adults are free. An adult must stay with child/ren.

Fossil Friday - Fossil Identification Day 25 August ~ 10am - 3pm
Do you have a mystery fossil you’d like to know more about?
Come and meet the fossil expert Tony in the dino gallery!
Bring him your fossil and he’ll be able to identify it and tell you more about it.

Lotions and Potions - Remedies for Maladies! Saturday 26 August ~ 10am - 3pm
This free event allows you to find out how sickness was warded off and treated in the past and how it compares with modern medicine.
Have a look around a historic ambulance and ring the bell, visit the NHS 75 exhibition and enjoy the quiz trail and create your own remedies for maladies.

Changeling Theatre Open Air Tour Various Dates, July - August
Watch the Changeling Theatre's Open Air Tour and their productions of Love's Labour's Lost and The School for Scandal, at a choice of venues around Maidstone.
Changeling Theatre is best known for their hugely successful Summer open air tours and have staged Shakespeare's most popular plays in locations ranging from castles to beaches to football stadiums.
Upcoming venues include The Friars, Biddenden Vineyards and Boughton Monchelsea Place.

Summer Indian Street Fest
On Sunday 20 August (9am - 6pm), at Love Food inside of Lockmeadow you can try the famous South Indian breakfast of Idlee and enjoy tasters of Indian foods throughout the day.
The event will also feature music performances, stalls and henna tattoos. Indulge your taste buds and sit back to enjoy a day full of flavour and colour. Free entry.

River Medway Paddle Fest
On Sunday 27 August (9am to 8pm), make the most of the pretty riverside setting with this great combo of paddle boarding and great food! Watch the paddle board race in the morning, try some lessons, chill out to music and enjoy a sunset supper with the award-winning Funky Feast Food Bazaar. Free entry.

Music From Things Workshop
Come along to a FREE workshop and make a musical instrument out of everyday items! Groups can then play together and develop the music along the way.
